And apparently I’m a little rusty at blogging, because that’s the best title I could come up with!
I truly don’t even know where to start. My last blog post was September 6, 2022 and I ended it by saying I’d try to pop back in over the weekend to post back to school pictures. Oops! Well, here I am TEN MONTHS later and I’m ready to blog again! I have missed it immensely. In fact, somewhere in October I realized that my weekly email updates to my students’ parents were getting a bit lengthy . . . almost like mini blog posts about our week at school! I made myself dial it back a bit, but it was obvious that I truly missed having a space to share all the thoughts going on in my head . . . and to dazzle people with my humor, of course! 🙂
For those of you who may just be joining (or who may have forgotten), last September I went from a stay at home mom of eight years to second grade teacher in the literal blink of an eye . . . six days before the school year started! One phone call and BAM, everything changed! There was no time for me to mentally prepare/process this ENORMOUS life change and it rocked everyone’s world for a good long while. Sleep was basically non existent for me. Matt and I would joke that I’d “nap” from like 2am-5am some nights. I’d randomly start crying (not at school, thank goodness) because my brain and body literally didn’t know what was going on! I’d be crying and I’d say, “I don’t know why I’m crying, but I can’t stop!” And there was one major panic attack right out of the gate. However, even though it turned me into an emotional mess of a zombie for quite some time, I have LOVED being back in the classroom. I have no doubt that teaching is what I’m meant to do, and I’m so much better at it now that I’m a mom!
This is a picture I snapped of myself back in March when I was working on report cards allllll day. Exhausted, overwhelmed, but still happy!
Phew! Ok, are you still with me? 🙂
I don’t want an entire year of my family life to go undocumented on the blog, so my plan is to do a bunch of recap posts where I catch you up a few months at a time. I’m not going to commit to a schedule of when my posts go live like I did previously. The best way for you to know that I’ve posted is to enter your email in this box on the home page of my blog. That way you’ll get notified whenever I post a new update. 🙂
It feels so good to be back, and I can’t wait to catch you (and myself!) up on everything that went on these past ten months. I think it’s safe to say that the moms (my mom and Rita) and the aunts (Donna, Judie, and Marie) have missed my blog the most! Buckle up, ladies, you have a lot of reading to do over the next few weeks! 🙂
