Happy First Day of School!
I’m coming up for a very quick breath of air to share my classroom before and after pics. I signed my contract at 3:30pm last Tuesday . . . that’s one week ago today.
There was a lot of excitement and a lot of tears. In the blink of one phone call, I went from a stay at home mom of eight years to a full time second grade teacher . . .and I didn’t even get to say goodbye.
As soon as I walked into my classroom on Tuesday afternoon, it was very clear that I would not be able to make our Labor Day trip to the cottage. Because he is truly the best husband ever, Matty (and Rita!) loaded up the girls and Penelope and headed to the cottage on Thursday morning. That gave me almost five full days and four full nights (cuz I wasn’t sleeping) to get myself ready. I was free to work for 12-13 hours in my classroom and then come home and get right to work on all the paperwork and email that is required when starting a new job. It is TRULY the best gift Matty could have given me. Incidentally, it was also the very first time that I’ve been alone overnight since the girls have been born. Yes, you read that right! I have to say, I didn’t hate it! haha
Ok, so I worked super hard and had some help from my mom and Rita in the process. Here’s what my room looked like the day I signed my contract.

And here’s the after! I have to say, I’m pretty proud!

The green welcome board will have the students’ pictures on it. The purple board will be our job board, but I’m not sure what jobs I want yet! I’ll give it a week or two to decide. I also plan on putting a word wall up on the back whiteboard . . . but there was only so much time to get things done!

I still need to add the lunch options to this, but it’s too cute not to share!

Today is a half day for students, thank goodness! I’ll try to pop in, maybe over the weekend, to post some back to school pictures.
Thanks to everyone for all your well wishes and support!
XOXO
