Happy Thursday!
I don’t have a ton to share today because the girls have been at Vacation Bible School all week, and they have LOVED it! Look at these cuties!

The girls have been asking to try croissants, so I made them some ham and cheese ones for lunch the other day. When I was cutting them, I commented that I thought they looked like crabs . . . so Matty and I made it happen! I had the idea for the cherry tomato eyes, and then he added the raisins for eyeballs. The girls loved their “crabby croissants!”

We’re getting Emily ready for Kindergarten, and she picked out the cutest water bottle and lunch box!

Penelope enjoys keeping an eye on the neighborhood . . . and the squirrels.

Matty bought a papaya for us to try, and Penelope was super interested in it when he was scraping out the seeds. At one point she went paws up on the trash can, which she’s never done before. We gave her a piece to try, and she wasn’t impressed . . . and the same goes for me!

And that’s all I’ve got!
I think that we’re in a bit of a summer slump this week. I’m looking forward to back to school, not because I want the girls out of the house, but because I am looking forward to more of a structured routine. The Kissels thrive on routine and structure . . . does that really shock anyone??
I purposely didn’t sign the girls up for too many activities this summer because I think it’s so important for them to just be kids and have a lot of unstructured play. It turns out, they aren’t quite at the proper ages yet to have SO much unstructured play time. It really just turns into unstructured fighting time, unstructured whining time, or unstructured constant snacking time. So here I am, trying to be cool mama and throw structure and routine to the wind for the summer . . . and I don’t think any of us like it as much as I thought!
Funnily enough, the one area where I’ve kept structure and routine is bedtime . . . and the girls have been fighting us SO hard lately. It doesn’t matter if we try putting them to bed at 7:30, 10:30, or somewhere in between, they just won’t lay down and go to sleep! It’s a constant flow of girls coming out of their rooms complaining about why they can’t sleep. Last night during bath time, Lucy asked Matty and me why we were so grumpy at bed time lately . . . and I let loose on allll the reasons why they’re driving us bananas at bedtime!
We’re going to be gone all next week, so I’m hoping that a change of pace and a change of scenery will help all of us pull out of this slump. There’s still a month of summer left, and I want to enjoy it!
XOXO
