And boy did I feel the love!!!
Hi, my name is Molly and I LOVE birthdays. I love making them special for other people, and I love when people make them special for me. More often than not, the needs of the mama in any family generally get looked over or put last. I think it’s amazing to have ONE day a year where I don’t have to feel badly about not doing laundry, letting the dog out, or planning anything. For once, everything is about me . . . and I really enjoy it! Ok, I’ll hop down off my birthday soapbox now and get to the pictures.
My birthday weekend started off on Friday with a lunch with my mama friends. Unfortunately, all of our kiddos were home with snow day #3 (ugh!), but the dads stepped up so that six of us could get together for a quick lunch. My girls NEEDED to get out of the house, so I dropped them off at Marie’s house and Josh watched all four little ladies while we went to lunch!

Encanto and popcorn!

We got home around 4ish, and I knew I needed to get to the grocery because the deli is closed on Sundays now, and there was no way I was going to the grocery on my birthday! So, I got there around 5:00, and saw this sign. You may or may not know this, but the deli has been my arch nemesis during Covid! At first it was hit or miss as to if it would be open, but then they finally seemed to settle on a schedule . . . that has them closed Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday! Needless to say, this sign annoyed me just a little bit!

On Friday evening we put the girls to bed, and I felt like it would be appropriate to watch the movie This is 40. It is hilarious, and both of us enjoyed watching it again.

Saturday morning I woke up and the first birthday message I got was from one of my mom’s friends who posted this picture of me . . . but it sure does look a lot like Emily Rose!

We had a leisurely morning where Matty and the girls spoiled me with allll the fun gifts, and then I headed out for a massage! Yes!

After my massage, I met up with Matty, Rita, and the girls for lunch. When I got home, this beautiful bouquet of flowers was waiting for me from my mom and dad! They are still recovering from Covid, so they weren’t able to make it out on my birthday. ๐

I’d been rounding up some things to spruce up this somewhat empty front room for awhile, and since we were having friends over that evening, it seemed like a good time to get going on it. Here’s the before . . .

. . . and here’s the after! I’m so happy with it!

Later in the afternoon the doorbell rang, and this delicious Edible Arrangement was waiting for me from Zack, Carla, and their kiddos!

It was the perfect late afternoon snack!!

We were going out for dinner with a bunch of friends, and I tried to get some good pics with the girls and Matty before we left. It was so nice of the girls to dress up for the occasion!

This was the best I got from the group. Ugh!

We went out and enjoyed a great dinner with friends, and then came back for cake and drinks!

Marie brought me this beautiful cake from Holiday Market, and it was delicious!

I almost didn’t post this picture because WHAT was I thinking blowing out my candle on the entire cake?! I should know better in the time of Covid. Also, no one brought a 40 candle, but I did have this one leftover from Emmy’s 4th birthday so we went with it.

Our neighbors brought their new Sheepadoodle puppy over, and he and Penelope played SO well together all night!

Penelope’s full grown at 20 pounds . . . Mack is only 12 weeks old and will get to be about 90 pounds!

It was 2am and all Mack had to do was walk across the street to get home . . . but the poor little guy just couldn’t do it! haha

You know the only bad thing about going to bed at 2:30 in the morning? . . . when your kids wake up at 7:30. Boo! I had bribed these little ladies the night before that if they went to bed nicely for Rita and stayed asleep all night long, they could have some cake for breakfast. They earned it, but next time I’ll add that they have to sleep until at least 9:00!

I made it until Lucy got home from catechism Sunday afternoon, and then I gave the girls their ipads and we laid down for a nap. It was delightful!

My birthday extravaganza ended with a delicious steak salad on Sunday night . . .

. . . followed by some entertainment while I dared try to use the bathroom by myself for 30 seconds!

I had such a great weekend and am so thankful for all my friends and family who made me feel so special. Forty is off to a great start so far. I can’t wait to be spoiled again on Mother’s Day! haha
The girls are FINALLY going back to school today, I have two big cookie orders this week, and word on the street is that I might finally get to volunteer in the library at Lucy’s school on Friday. It’s shaping up to be a great week!
XOXO
