Lucy Belle

~~~All the Questions~~~
Lucy is SOOOOO curious, and asks a million questions a day. If I had a dollar for every time the word, “Why?” came out of her mouth, I’d be typing this from my villa in Turks and Caicos! We love her curiosity, but sometimes she just won’t stop . . . and it’s exhausting! What are those construction workers doing, mommy? Why? Why do they need to do that? Why do they use that machine? Why does the moon look like it’s following us? Why do the call that a table/bookshelf/store/curb/television? Why don’t you want to eat that, mommy? But WHY?! You get the idea, right?! Sometimes she’ll get so frustrated with me when I legit don’t know the answer to a question, and then I get frustrated because she won’t let it go. It’s a fun game.
~~~Swim and Gym~~~
Lucy has been taking swim classes AND gymnastics classes this summer and loves them both. She has really progressed as a swimmer and goes without a puddle jumper in the pool now. Not as relaxing for me, but great for her! She loves her gymnastics and will be continuing her classes into the fall. She’s constantly doing cartwheels around the house and loves to go outside and practice with her friends. The Olympic gymnasts have been a big deal in our house, and it’s so cute to watch the girls get excited for them!
~~~Ready for 1st Grade!~~~
We can’t believe Lucy is going into 1st grade already! She’s going to a different school than she did for Kindergarten, so it’ll be another big change for all of us. Lucy says she isn’t excited, but I think she secretly is. She’s very excited that she’ll get to pack a lunch this year (they provided lunch at her Kindergarten) and is weirdly happy about getting a thermos to take pasta for lunch. We’ve decided to drive her rather than risk another Covid contact spot on the bus, but I’m sure in years to come she’ll love riding with all of her neighborhood friends.
Emily Rose
~~~Goofy McGooferson~~~
Emily is, by far, the goofiest of our girls. She’s almost always happy and loves to crack us up with her silly dances, facial expressions, and voices. She is so expressive and sometimes we find ourselves laughing out loud at her gestures and body language. Goofy is truly the perfect word to describe her!
~~~Am I 5 Yet?~~~
Emmy Roses wants to be five-years-old SO badly! Lots of things happen in our house when you turn five . . .you get to switch to a booster seat, you get to go to Kindergarten, you get your own digital camera from Oma and Papa, and you get to chew gum! Ems is so ready for all of these things! She wants to grow up and be like her big sister so badly, but I’m trying to cherish this last year of having her home with me.
~~~Can I Help?~~~
Emily loves to be my little helper, and I’m trying to get better at letting her. It takes much longer to fold towels or dust when she helps me, but I try to view it as a learning experience for her . . . and something that will pay off for me in the long run! It’s so sweet to hear her excitedly ask to help, especially when she leaves something she was enjoying to come and help. Emmy may be goofy, but she has the sweetest heart.
The Rest of Us
~~~Matty~~~
Matty will be working from home indefinitely, which makes both of us so happy! He’s currently deep into golf league and lawn season and is living his best summertime life.
~~~Penelope Pudding~~~
That sweet Cavapoo is amazing, as always. She’s going to a new groomer today, and I can’t wait to see how she looks when she comes home!
~~~Molly~~~
I’m working on something fairly exciting that I’m hoping to share by the end of the month. How’s that for a teaser?! Other than that, I’m trying to soak up this last month of summer. There’s still a lot on my adventure to-do list with the girls, and I can’t believe school starts in about a month!
