Yes, that’s right, “party” is plural.
We decided to let Lucy pick two friends from school to come over for a birthday party play date the day before her birthday and then do her family party on her actual birthday on Saturday.
Both parties were fun.
I won’t do it again.
Ha!
Thankfully, the weather gods gave us a beautiful weekend and the weather was fantastic both days.
While Lucy was at school on Friday, I spent the day prepping for her friends to come over. I made these amazing cupcakes completely from scratch. At Matty’s suggestion, I put a little surprise in the middle before baking: a frozen ball of my chocolate chip cookie dough. They were DELISH!

Lucy wanted a gymnastics theme birthday party.

The weather was perfect, so I moved the party to the deck at the last minute.

At my friend Marie’s suggestion, the girls each got their own water bottle to decorate and take home as a party favor. I purchased these off Amazon, and they were a big hit! The quality seems good, and the jewel stickers were easy to use.

In their new gymnastics leotards and ready to party!

After the girls decorated their water bottles and had a snack, our neighbor came over to do gymnastics with them. Sarah is in high school and works at a gymnastics center and is AMAZING with kids. She made sure all the little ladies had fun.

Penelope found a great place to watch!

After pizza and fruit salad, Lucy opened her presents . . .

. . . and then we got into the cupcakes and ice cream.

I forgot to take a picture of the girls doing their water bottles during the party, but here are my girls’ finished products. They love them!
And then Saturday morning we woke up and Lucy was SIX . . . which called for donuts!

After donuts we went right into gifts. The very first gift Lucy opened was this fitness tracker watch, and Emily was NOT pleased that Lucy got a watch and she didn’t. You know this made Lucy that much happier about her watch. It was a great time.

After gifts, the girls played outside for a long while and I got ready for party 2.0 by making Lucy’s cake.

This is the first time we’ve had my brother and his family over since before quarantine, so we were so excited. And they were excited to see Penelope!

We had corn hole, kinetic sand, and sidewalk chalk out to keep the kiddos (and adults!) busy.

Oma and Papa got Lucy a two-wheeled scooter . . .

. . . and Grandma Rita got her this reading pillow!

Baseball watching buddies.

The cutest little six-year-old!

After our families left, Lucy tried out her new scooter . . .

. . . and then this girl dad tried to teach his ladies how to throw a football.

Things escalated quickly.

Then the birthday girl decided that a walk to the playground was in order.

Emily didn’t have anywhere to put her small stuffy, so she put it down her dress. haha

Then it was home for baths, and Lucy and I played her new logic game before bed . . . and we argued over who got to play it more!

And then mama went to bed! Phew!
It was a whirlwind of a weekend, but I was so happy to make it special for Lucy Belle.
And birthdays aren’t over yet . . . Penelope Pudding’s first birthday is TODAY!! You better believe we’re going to get her one of those fancy pup treats from the Pet Supplies Plus bakery. We’re those people now!
Have a great weekend!
XOXO
