Happy Thursday!
The girls are on mid winter break this week . . . with an emphasis on WINTER. The below freezing temperatures and never ending snow hasn’t been my favorite, but we’ve still managed to squeeze in quite a bit of fun.
Emily is convinced that Penelope likes to rest with her glow worm. Penelope is convinced Emily wants her to eat glow worm. I predict this will not turn out well.

Playing around in our front room . . . or are they on stage somewhere?! ๐

Matty took Penelope for a walk, and the girls wasted no time getting out their Hatchimals and spreading out on the floor. Penelope would eat all of those if she was home!

For Valentine’s Day, Aunt Carla made the girls heart shaped cookies with tic-tac-toe boards and M&Ms. They had a fun time playing around before eating their game boards and pieces!

So this happened on Monday evening! Way back when Lucy moved to a big girl bed, we bought bunk beds for her room. She wasn’t ready for them yet, so we eventually used the second bed as Emily’s big girl bed. Lucy has been asking and asking for her bunk beds so we finally made it happen . . . and now Emily has to sleep on the bottom bunk until we figure out what kind of bed we want to get for her room!

Snoozy sisters!

Tuesday morning we woke up to a fresh 8″ of snow. Ugh. I love a good snow shoveling session, and have done most of the snow this year, but this was too much for me and my shovel!

Remember a few weeks ago when we had snow tubing reservations and it turned out to be one of the coldest days we’d had yet? Well the morning we got all that snow we had reservations for a ropes course and zip line in Troy . . .which is an hour away. Double ugh. Matty braved the roads and got us there in time. Emily tried the course once and was a little unsure at first . . .

. . . but Lulu was in her element!

Emily eventually calmed down, got back on the course, and loved it.

There was some serious sister teamwork going on by the end.

After the ropes course we went out to lunch, which was super exciting for two reasons: 1. We’ve been eating fairly healthy at home so it was nice to splurge a little bit. 2. We haven’t been inside a restaurant since last February! Apparently, some of us forgot how to behave . . .
Is that not the most delicious Maurice Salad you’ve ever seen??

The girls both got grilled cheese and fries. We tried to convince them to share, but they each wanted their own. Lucy ate all of her food, and Emmy ate most of hers!! Apparently zip lining works up an appetite.

And if that’s the case, then Matty must have been zip lining when I wasn’t looking because look what he ordered! He ate half, and I was thoroughly impressed. There’s no way I’d go near that thing without a fork and knife in my hand.
Who needs a fire hydrant anyway?!

Some early evening snow time with neighbors!

Lucy got herself all dressed up in my outdoor gear and pretended to be me by asking if anyone wanted chocolate chip cookies. Who knows what Emmy Roses was doing!

Lucy must have been feeling cute after her bath because she took this selfie with my phone!

Emily has her first preschool project due when winter break is over. We finished up her All About Me sheet yesterday.

And the biggest news of winter break . . . Lucy got her ears pierced!! She did fantastic!

Surprise . . . Emily decided she wanted in on the fun too!! Matty and I didn’t think there was any way she’d go through with it, but she did! She sat on my lap like the brave girl she is and didn’t shed a tear until both ears were pierced! haha

Getting your ears pierced is tiring!

Green for Lucy, Pink for Emily. They both look adorable!
Wow, that was a lot! We’re finishing off our winter break at the cottage. We’re going to stay until Monday, so I’ll be taking that day off from blogging. I’ll see you back here on Thursday.
Stay warm!
XOXO
