Happy February!
It’s the first of the month . . . don’t forget to change your toothbrushes, run the cleaning cycles on your washing machine and dishwasher, and drop a Plink-It down your garbage disposal. You’ll feel set and ready to tackle a new month, I promise!
Here’s a look at our (somewhat boring) life lately.
This is why I always like to put the girls’ hair in a braid at bedtime. I let Emmy wear her hair down one time, and suddenly we have Cousin It sleeping in her bed!

And when she’s awake, she looks like this!

Lucy got a rocks and minerals kit from her book order, and the girls have been having fun playing scientist. Lucy taught Emmy to use science words and has her starting her observations by saying, “I notice that . . .” It’s super cute!

Rest time with a couple of cuties.

One day last week was particularly trying with the girls. At bedtime, Lucy randomly asked if she could stay up late and make a card for Emily. All I wanted was for her to go to bed, but I figured I should encourage this act of sisterly love . . . even if I did suspect it was nothing more than a delay of bedtime ploy. Well, I’m glad I let her stay up because look at this adorable card she made for Emmy! #meltmyheart

I’ve been having trouble staying warm at night, so I heat up my neck warmer and stick it under my covers while I get ready for bed. Someone discovered my little secret . . . and now plops herself right on top of it!

Penelope went on a field trip to Home Depot and was a huge hit. #obviously

Bright eyed and bushy tailed on a school morning.

Penelope got a haircut!

We took the girls outside after school one day to do a couple of science experiments. We attempted to make a snow volcano with baking soda, food coloring, and vinegar. Matt also wanted to show them how the contents of a bottle of Coke will shoot high into the air when you drop Mentos mints inside. Spoiler alert: both of them were epic fails! I blame the fact that it was only 16 degrees outside.

We treated ourselves to some Thai take out on Friday night, and while Matty went to pick it up the girls and I played Monopoly Junior: Unicorn Edition.

After dinner and baths, everyone hunkered down for Friday night movie night.

Oma and Papa came over for a visit on Saturday, which called for fancy hair and lip stick!

Lucy wants to get her ears pierced, and we told her she has to do fifteen acts of kindness before we’ll call and make the appointment. She earned numbers fourteen and fifteen over the weekend by rubbing Papa’s feet and reading two books to Oma!

A pajama delivery arrived on Saturday, and the box was filled with cuteness!

We started working on Valentines Saturday evening, and the girls were very focused.

My wild Saturday night consisted of folding laundry . . . dump out warm laundry on the bed, and Penelope will snuggle up to it!

The girls and I went to the grocery on Sunday, and they were such good helpers and so sweet holding hands!

And now you’re all caught up!
I felt like I was a super crabby mama this weekend. The girls have colds, and Emily didn’t sleep well either night . . . which means neither did I. My 5:30am wake up calls Monday through Friday make me REALLY look forward to sleeping in on the weekends, and that didn’t happen either day. I’m not sure if I was crabby because I was actually so tired or just annoyed that my lazy mornings were interrupted. At any rate, today is a new day and I’m going to try and find a little extra patience!
Hope you have a great week!
XOXO
