Happy Monday!
We had a fun weekend celebrating Rita’s 70th birthday and visiting with Sarah, Brian, and the kiddos.
Prior to that, though, we decided to document our nightly couch snuggles with Penelope. #greatestdogever

Emily woke up on Friday and reminded everyone not to be crabby. That nose scrunch is her signature move.

A few festive decorations for Rita’s 70th birthday party!

The girls learned how to chop strawberries this weekend, and we’re all so happy about it! I may never have to cut another strawberry again.

Rita, Sarah, Brian, Tommy, and Eleanor spent the entire day here on Saturday . . .10:30am-7:30pm! It was such a fun day, and this is a very accurate description of how Sarah and I spent most of it. These kids never stop eating!

We went on a walk around our circle and had to stop to visit with Turkey Tom.

Tommy enjoyed his dinosaurs while Matty enjoyed a beer and the Masters.

We had pizza from the South Lyon Hotel for dinner and then I made homemade Sanders Hot Fudge Cream Puffs for dessert.

Rita had lots of little helpers to open her gifts. We printed out a bunch of family photos and had them framed.

As Saturday went on, I noticed Emmy’s nose started running and she sounded congested. It hit her hard in the evening and she had a really tough night of sleep on Saturday . . . which means I did too. No fever, just a bad cold. She was extra snuggly on Sunday morning, and extra disappointed to have to miss round two of Grandma Rita’s birthday extravaganza . . . and so was I!

Matty and Lucy left to drive down to Rita’s house, while Emmy, Penelope, and I got cozy on the couch. I also spent a good portion of the day praying that the insane wind and sideways rain didn’t cause our power to go out!

Emily wanted to set up a library in the playroom. This meant that we took turns setting up the books and then having the other person come in and put them in a bag to take home . . . over and over and over again.

Matty and Lucy got home a little after 5:00, and the girls REALLY wanted to put up the Christmas tree . . . so we did! The rest of the house is still Thanksgiving, but I’ll probably rectify that as the week progresses. Also, we NEED a new tree topper so that’s on my list for this week too.

Except for Emily’s cold it was a really good weekend! It was nice to squeeze in a quick visit with Sarah, Brian, and the kiddos because, with the way things are going, who knows if we’ll get to see them at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
And that’s it for me for the week. My amazing, thoughtful, handsome hubby pulled the trigger on getting me a brand new laptop, and it’s supposed to arrive later this week. I’m going take some time for us to get properly acquainted, and I’ll be back and better than ever next week!
XOXO
