Spicer’s Orchard

October 15, 2020 by Molly Leave a Comment

Lucy’s teachers had professional development on Monday, so we took advantage of having her home during the week and checked out a new apple orchard!

The girls made a beeline for Spookley the Square Pumpkin.

Matty’s getting so tall!

They have a big playground area. The girls checked out the pirate ship and train, but the carnival rides and rickety looking zip line were closed since it was a weekday. #thankgoodness

We just followed the girls around and let them explore. Why am I wearing Matty’s Milorganite hat?? Because there was a constant mist all morning long, and that does not mix well with naturally curly hair!

We took a hayride to the corn maze. Since we were outside, I let Lulu put her mask below her nose so that her glasses would stop fogging up.

Children of the Corn . . .but these ones are cute!

The girls had a blast!

I wish I had snapped a picture of the aerial view of the maze . . . it was HUGE! We kind of guided the girls around the front of the maze, all while letting them think we were getting very far, and made a big deal about thinking we were lost . . . all while navigating just the tip of the iceberg as far as the maze goes. We’re not dummies! #parentingwin

And then we hoofed it back to the main part of the orchard because we had just missed the hayride.

We rewarded ourselves with donuts and cider. I could stare at this picture of Emily all day long! The forehead freckle . . . the big eyes . . . the even bigger cheeks . . .the sugar lips . . . it’s perfection!

And this little lady was pretty cute too! She had rain drops on her glasses, and by the time she finished her donut there was sugar on there as well.

It was a the perfect way to spend a chilly fall morning with our girls, and we had a great time!

Side note: We let them look at the pumpkins for a few minutes, but they were expensive! We just couldn’t do it. Pumpkins bought from Costco or Kroger will carve just as well. On the splurge vs. save spectrum, pumpkins definitely skew toward “save” in our opinion!

Have a great weekend! I have a few little tricks up my sleeve to make Sweetest Day a little special for the girls.

XOXO

Classroom Before and After

Happy First Day of School! I’m coming up for a very quick breath of air to share my classroom before and after pics. I signed my contract at 3:30pm last Tuesday . . . that’s one week ago today. There was a lot of excitement and a lot of tears. In the blink of one […]

Mrs. Kissel: 2nd Grade Teacher!

Surprise! There are three Kissel ladies going back to school this year. Emily starts Kindergarten, Lucy’s in 2nd grade…and I’m coming out of retirement to teach second grade!!! (Not Lucy’s class!) I was hired Monday afternoon, and the amount of overwhelm and range of emotions I’ve felt since then has been, well, overwhelming! To those […]
