Happy Thursday, friends!
Just a quick little glimpse at what we’ve been up to lately. It’s been a pretty standard week, and it is flying by!
Lucy was eating pretzels last weekend and commented that she thought pretzels would be yummy in a cookie. Ask and you shall receive, Lulu! While she was at school on Monday, Emmy and I got busy making a cookie that had my chocolate chip cookie dough base but we mixed in Reese’s Pieces and pretzels instead. The consensus was that they were delicious . . . but may have been better with peanut butter cookie dough instead. There’s only one way to find out!

While both girls were at school on Tuesday morning, I took advantage of the glorious weather and went for a 4 mile walk. We are fortunate to have a lot of trails connecting different parts of our town, and they were extra pretty on Tuesday. Disclaimer: it may look deserted, but this particular stretch of trail has subdivisions on either side as well as our local high school. If it was nothing but woods I probably wouldn’t walk alone; I’ve seen scary movies.

Lucy has been giving Emmy certain colors to look for each day while Lu is at school. Emmy was excited to see a red boat on the lake as we drove to Costco.

Emily entertained herself for 30 minutes during Lucy’s dance class by coloring and making “lists.” The last 15 minutes were spent snuggling with me because preschool, Costco, and dance class are a lot all in one day!
Lucy has popcorn words (sight words) that she is supposed to practice every night. We’re getting into a routine of Matty doing them with her after dinner while I close up the kitchen for the night. It’s so fun to see her get excited when she gets a word right. Side note, this may not be politically correct to say, but I now firmly believe that all teachers should be parents. It has been so eye opening to see Lucy’s education through the eyes of a parent rather than a teacher. I’m now that parent emailing the teacher about every little question or concern! If/when I ever go back into the classroom, I will FOR SURE be much more empathetic and understanding to the students and the parents.

And finally, here’s a random selfie of me at 9pm on Thursday evening. I’m trying to make sure I’m in at least ONE picture a week with the girls . . . and that didn’t happen this week. So here’s my #proofofmom picture. I caught a little bit of a cold from the girlies, so right after I took this picture I downed some Nyquil, took a hot shower, and called it a night. Please don’t be jealous of my glamorous lifestyle.

Lucy has school pictures on Friday, and then we have our family pictures Saturday afternoon. It’s the one day of the year that either makes or breaks my fireplace mantel for the next year. I “think” I have the outfits all picked out. It’s October, so I thought it would be cooler, but it’s supposed to be 75 degrees on Saturday. We’re going to power through in our sweaters, though! Oh, and as an added bonus to the stressful 30 minutes of family photos . . . we’ve decided to try to get Penelope in the pics with us this year . . . because why not?!
Wish me luck!
XOXO
