Holy Moly, I don’t think we could have asked for a better weather weekend if we were able to special order it ourselves! We’ve had the most beautiful weather here which worked out so well because we had a lot of outdoor projects to accomplish.
But first, the girls and I had a day of fun at my parents’ house on Thursday. Yes, I know that we’re technically still under quarantine. Matty and I talked about it a lot, and it was just time. At some point we have to widen our circle, and we decided to start seeing grandparents. Honestly, it’s the best decision and has been so good for all of us! Mental/emotional health is important too, and this did wonders for all of us . . . and that’s all I have to say about that.
Emily and Oma got right to work setting up a grocery store. Oma held Em’s babydoll while Emmy shopped and used the self checkout.

Meanwhile, Lucy spent about half an hour working on her latest masterpiece!

Thursday started out rainy, but cleared up quickly and we had hot and sunny afternoon for their inaugural swim in Papa’s pool. Matty says the girls look like twins in this picture.

Armed and most definitely dangerous with those water squirters. After taking a direct hit to the eye immediately upon entering the pool, I retreated and allowed my dad to take the brunt of their attack.

Rainbow sherbet is just what the doctor ordered after an afternoon of swimming!

Emily was so excited to snuggle and hug Oma!

There was some water table time . . .

. . . and selfies with Nemo . . .

. . . and snuggles with the alligator float. This picture is classic Lucy!

They kicked back with a Paw Patrol before we packed up to head home. You guys, look at those girls . . . they used to be BABIES! Now they’re big girls, one of which is wearing actual jean shorts with snaps and a zipper! #babiesdontkeep

We got home just in time to check on the fairy garden before dinner and bed. What a great day!

Friday was another beautiful day, and we participated in our first birthday parade! The birthday boy lives directly across the street from us, but we still threw the girls in the car and drove around the block to join in on the parade fun! Matty loved honking the horn, and the girls loved their blowers. They also couldn’t believe we didn’t make them sit in their seats. See girls, mommy and daddy CAN be fun!

The parade was followed by a drive by from the local fire station and sheriff’s department. Let me tell you, those sirens were LOUD!

Saturday was nothing but outdoor yard work for Matty and me, outdoor play time for the girlies, and a break for Blue Moon ice cream after lunch!

Lucy borrowed our neighbor’s skateboard and had a great time figuring out how to ride it.

And perhaps the biggest news of the weekend . . . Emily Roses now rides her bike WITHOUT TRAINING WHEELS! This is a screenshot of a video I took. I was so busy taking videos that I forgot to snap an actual picture. She woke up on Saturday and said she wanted to try without training wheels so Matty took them off . . . and five minutes later our newly three-year-old was cruising around the neighborhood! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again . . . BABIES. DON’T. KEEP!!!

Sunday was spent planting flowers, spreading mulch, riding bikes alllll day, and painting the girls hair with chalk hair paint. I allowed it for one day only, and it got washed off in the tub on Sunday evening. It made their hair look/feel gross, but they loved it so I guess it was fine for one day.

A super productive weekend spent outside feels great! We got to cross a lot of things off our lists, which is always satisfying.
It should come as no surprise that we don’t have anything on the schedule for the week. If you need us, we’ll be doing some bike riding!
Have a great week!
XOXO
