Fun in the Sun

June 23, 2020 by Molly Leave a Comment

It’s a bonus post on a Tuesday! We had such a fun weekend, and I wanted to get it into blog form before I forget everything.

After visiting Penelope last Thursday morning, we headed to Maumee, Ohio to have a pool day with my brother-in-law’s family. Brian was in town with Tommy and Eleanor visiting his family, and they invited us to come spend the day with them. It was hot and sunny and the perfect day!

Look at me living it up in the pool . . . drink in hand and not a child in sight! Brian’s older nieces were very eager to play with the kiddos in the pool, and I was very eager to let them. Never fear, though, I was constantly glancing over at them. I once read a parenting article from a drowning investigator that said it’s no one else’s job to watch my kids in the pool but mine. I’ll never forget that tip!

I’d say this was much better than their average Thursday!

It was 5:30, and Lucy was still living her best life in the pool! Our sweet girls loves the water!

We tried our best to keep her awake, but Emmy took a little snooze on the drive home. Side note: look at how long her legs look in this picture!

On Saturday we spent the day at the Heinbuchs’ house on Lake Sherwood. The girls were introduced to their dog, Bogey, and they all became fast friends. It probably had something to do with the dozens of treats the girls kept giving him!

It was HOT on Saturday, and all six of us sat on this magic carpet foam thingy (that’s the technical term!) for hours. The girls had a blast jumping off and climbing back up to jump off again. It was the perfect day!

A little hammock time after a late lunch . . .

. . . before heading out for one more swim session. Please note Ryan’s quarantine beard, it could seriously win an award!

On Sunday we started our Father’s Day celebration with gifts . . . once Matty was finished sleeping in!

The girls were so excited to give him a Yeti water bottle and a home made coupon book for things like: one trip to Taco Bell, one night off from bath time duty, and one round of golf. It was a hit!

Then we loaded up the car and headed down for lunch and swimming at my parents’ house.

Phew! After so many weeks of doing absolutely nothing during quarantine, our busy week last week tuckered me right out! We had so much fun, though, and are so thankful to have lots of spots to go and beat the heat!

XOXO

Classroom Before and After

Happy First Day of School! I’m coming up for a very quick breath of air to share my classroom before and after pics. I signed my contract at 3:30pm last Tuesday . . . that’s one week ago today. There was a lot of excitement and a lot of tears. In the blink of one […]

Mrs. Kissel: 2nd Grade Teacher!

Surprise! There are three Kissel ladies going back to school this year. Emily starts Kindergarten, Lucy’s in 2nd grade…and I’m coming out of retirement to teach second grade!!! (Not Lucy’s class!) I was hired Monday afternoon, and the amount of overwhelm and range of emotions I’ve felt since then has been, well, overwhelming! To those […]
