Quarantine Birdhouses

May 7, 2020 by Molly 1 Comment

Happy Thursday!

The girls have been wanting to hang birdhouses in the woods for some time now, and this week I was mom of the year and made all their birdie loving dreams come true!

I did a curbside pick up at Michael’s for all the supplies. I got two wooden birdhouses (of course they didn’t have two of the same available!), five colors of outdoor acrylic paint, and a set of brushes all for $20. I thought that was pretty good.

Monday was cool but sunny so we painted out on the deck.

Matty and I were actually pretty impressed with how well they turned out.

I made sure to document the bottom of them! 😉

On Tuesday I sprayed them with a few coats of sealer, and then yesterday they were ready to go up on the trees.

We went for a walk right after we hung the birdhouses, and when we got back we already saw a bird poking in and out of both houses! Apparently our two trees are a prime spot because those birds snatched them up fast! #birdrealestate

In other news, this weekend is Mother’s Day! I’m so very sad that we won’t be able to celebrate with our moms, but I AM looking forward to being pampered a bit on Sunday here at home. (Matty, you’re reading this, right?!) I’ll be doing nothing but hanging out and relaxing with these little ladies!

I feel like I post these same thoughts every year on Mother’s Day, and I’m going to keep posting them because there might be someone out there that needs to read them:

Whatever your Mother’s Day looks like this year, I hope there is a little bit of joy. If you’re struggling to become a mother, if you’re struggling as a mother, if you’ve lost your mother, or if you just haven’t seen your mother in 58 days because of quarantine, my hope is that you cut yourself a little slack on Sunday and give yourself some time to relax and just be happy. If there’s a baby shaped hole in your heart, I pray it’ll be filled one day soon. If you’ve lost your mama, I’m sure she’s smiling down on you today. And if you’re in the thick of motherhood like I am, I hope your husband makes a few decisions (and meals!) for you today so your brain and body can take a rest . . . and a few mimosas on the side wouldn’t hurt! 😉

Happy Quarantine Mother’s Day, everyone!

We’ve got this!

XOXO

Classroom Before and After

Happy First Day of School! I’m coming up for a very quick breath of air to share my classroom before and after pics. I signed my contract at 3:30pm last Tuesday . . . that’s one week ago today. There was a lot of excitement and a lot of tears. In the blink of one […]

Mrs. Kissel: 2nd Grade Teacher!

Surprise! There are three Kissel ladies going back to school this year. Emily starts Kindergarten, Lucy’s in 2nd grade…and I’m coming out of retirement to teach second grade!!! (Not Lucy’s class!) I was hired Monday afternoon, and the amount of overwhelm and range of emotions I’ve felt since then has been, well, overwhelming! To those […]
