. . . and I’m not sure how it happened!
Tomorrow our first little lady will be five years old, and it seems like she was just born. Total cliche, I know, but still so very true.
Lucy surprised us three weeks early and has been keeping us on our toes ever since!

Lucy is way smarter and more inquisitive than I am. Seriously. She has a thirst for knowledge that I just don’t have the ability to quench. Thank goodness for Google!

Her love for ALL animals runs deep. She loves playing mommy and using her stroller . . . but I can guarantee it’s almost always a stuffed animal she’s using instead of a babydoll. We have yet to meet any animal, insect, bug, or reptile that Lucy isn’t fascinated with. I love that about her when we see a dog, but it drives me crazy when she throws a tantrum because I killed a HORNET.

Even though she’s improving slightly, Lucy is definitely our picky eater. She is not a fan of meat unless it’s bacon or “pork chicken” (pork tenderloin) and even then she likes to dip it in Ranch! She lives for carbs and sweets, which is how I know she’s really my daughter.

Lulu is extremely athletic, and she’s also fearless. This leads to her wanting to try and do some crazy things that I just don’t think she’s ready for . . . but she usually proves me wrong.

Lucy Belle Kissel is a very sensitive soul, and every day is an adventure with her. She’s quickly coming out of her shell and willingly says hi to everyone we pass when we’re out for a walk. She wants to hang with the big kids in the neighborhood so badly and is craving independence . . . on her own terms. She wants to be able to ride her bike around the block with the big kids, fill up her own water bottle, choose her own clothes, and cut up her own food . . . but she has no interest in making her own bed or putting away her own laundry.

Five is supposed to be a big year both for Lucy and for me. She was supposed to do Safety Town this summer before starting Kindergarten in the fall. I am supposed to learn how to let my baby grow up and be away from her all day every day. Everything is up in the air right now for both of us, and we’re trying to navigate that together. She has so many questions about school, and I just don’t have the answers right now!

One thing is for sure, Lucy is growing up into an amazing little lady! She may be craving that independence, but you better believe she still wants snuggles and mama time just as much as ever . . . thank goodness!
Lucy has been asking me for weeks to do her birthday interview, and she was so excited to finally get to do it a few days ago. I think her answers are a great depiction of who she is right now.
We’ll be celebrating our girl with a mermaid themed party all day tomorrow. Did I go overboard because I feel guilty about quarantine?? You betcha! We’ve got some BIG surprises for Lulu over the next few days, and I cannot wait to see her reactions.
And for those of you who enjoy comparison pictures as much as I do, here are all of Lucy’s pictures in one collage. ๐
