Happy Monday!
I hope everyone had a good Easter weekend. While we would have much rather been spending time with our extended families, we made the best of things and had a great Easter.
Our festivities kicked off on Saturday, and we had BEAUTIFUL weather all day long.
I think we headed outside around 10:30. After a few bike laps, Matty started cutting the grass . . . and had some helpers.
The girls rode bikes for while longer and then took a break to color Easter cards that Oma and Papa sent them.

We took a break inside for lunch and then went right back out. Matty did some more lawn work, the girls made up some game that involved pushing each other off of the porch into the wood chips, and I sat and observed everyone while attempting to read a few pages of my book here and there. It was glorious!
At 3:00 everyone gathered in their driveways to see the Easter Bunny walk down the street.

The Bunny brought a shark (our elementary school mascot), Sparky the Dog, and a Lyon Township fire truck with him. It was short and sweet, and so nice of someone in our sub to organize.

After the “parade,” there was more play time before we went in around 5:00 for happy hour . . .

. . . and egg dying! The pics aren’t the greatest. The girls were exhausted and ready for dinner and bath time, but they were troopers and enjoyed coloring their eggs.

We ate dinner, set up a welcoming committee and snack for the Easter Bunny, and went upstairs for a well deserved bath.

While Lucy waited for her turn in the tub, she set up all of her Calico Critters in their beds . . . on her bed. These critters are her current obsession, and she loves having them right next to her while she sleeps.

The girls woke up on Easter morning to a candy carrot hanging from their doorways, and they loved it! They followed some bunny prints downstairs and started looking for their baskets.

After baskets we did an indoor egg hunt. The girls got lots of candy and also lots of “Cash money!” as they would exclaim when they opened the eggs with coins in them. They sampled the goods and colored some pictures while we made biscuits and fruit salad for breakfast.
Sunday was not nearly as nice of a day, but we still spent a good portion of it outside riding bikes and flying their new kites!

We went to the open common area across the street, and these little cuties both had their kites flying high for at least half an hour. They loved it!
And that’s where my pictures end. We had stuffed cabbage casserole for dinner and ate our weight in Easter candy. The girls went to bed happy and said they had a great Easter, so I’m calling it a win!
Notice that the girls are in their sweats on Easter Sunday, and so were Matty and I. We dress up every Easter, but since things were so different this year I decided to go all in and not even make the girls put their Easter dresses on. I think the poor weather probably played a little bit into that decision, but overall there was zero guilt on my part about our wardrobe. We traded in our Sunday Best for our Quarantine Best. ๐
Have a great week!
XOXO
