Happy Thursday!
The home page may look a little different this morning (mom, don’t freak out!). You now need to click on the title of the blog post in order for the full post to appear. This makes the home page a little more pleasing to the eye.
There’s also a new “Categories” section on the sidebar. I’ve recently learned that I can create as many categories as I want and then categorize each post to make looking for certain posts easier. I have 527 posts on the blog, and I am determined to go back and categorize as many of them that have relevant categories as possible. I also need to choose a “Featured Photo” for all of my blog posts that were published on the old platform . . . which is just over FIVE HUNDRED. A daunting task, for sure, made more daunting by the fact that I have to scan each post to remember what it was about and choose each featured photo from the post. Which means I get sucked down the rabbit hole of marveling at my sweet baby girls when they were itty baby babies instead of focusing up and getting the job done. So, in short, an enjoyable job albeit a tedious one.
Lucy has been a little under the weather this week. She has a cold and starts out fine in the mornings, but by late afternoon and evening she has a fever and doesn’t want to do anything. I’m hoping she bounces back quickly and no one else gets it!
Lucy Belle

~Lil’ Mama~
I can tell Lucy has been listening to everything I say because she has started acting like a little mama and repeating things to Emily. I’ll hear her in the playroom saying, ” Emily, if you don’t give me that toy right now then you get NO TREATS after dinner!” Or, my personal favorite, “Emmy! You need to give me the rest of your snack or you’ll go to bed without a show!” Apparently, I need to cool it on the ultimatums!
~Microwave~
Lucy is learning how to use the microwave and loves it. She already knows how to get a muffin out of the freezer, put it on the plate, and microwave it for 30 seconds. Any time I’m microwaving anything, she wants me to show her what I’m doing and asks to take it out as long as it’s not too hot. I’ve seen pictures of friends letting their kiddos stir things on the stove already, but I just don’t think I’m there yet!
~Little Miss Independent~
Every day is Independence Day here at the Kissel house. Lucy wants to do everything herself. She’s already mastered the two-wheel bike, she no longer calls for me in the mornings because she prefers to come downstairs on her own, and Heaven forbid I try to pick out her clothes on a non-school day! I’ve arranged the snacks in the pantry so that she can choose her own, and she also knows how to fill up her own water cup at the refrigerator door . . . 18 times a day! Funnily enough, she has not declared her independence when it comes to making her bed or putting away her toys.
Emily Rose

~Oatmeal~
Emily is OBSESSED with Quaker Oats Instant Oatmeal . . . and only the maple and brown sugar flavor. For the past few weeks, as soon as she wakes up in the morning, she asks for “oaties.” She likes to get her own bag from the pantry, pour it into one of her special oatmeal bowls from Costco, and waits not so patiently for me to microwave the water. Most mornings she’ll eat two bags!
~Future American Idol Contestant~
Ems sings songs all day long. Disney songs, Matty’s music, my music . . . if we’re listening to it, she’s singing it. She can belt out “Some Things Never Change” from Frozen 2 like nobody’s business and then switch over to “Radio Gaga” by Queen without missing a beat. Her sweet little voice is the cutest thing to hear! It makes me smile when I hear her singing on her own while she plays in her room at rest time.
~Whiny McWhinerson~
An unfortunate new development with Emmy is whining. I think it stems from the fact that she’s waking up too early in the morning. She sleeps through the night most nights, but has been waking up around 6:30 every morning instead of her usual 7:30/8:00. By lunchtime she is so tired and whiny, but she fights a nap even when I try to rock her. A tired and whiny Emmy is also a mischievous Emmy. She knows exactly how to push Lucy’s buttons, and it results in a constant state of sister squabbling. Yikes!

Today is a designated “work” day for me, which means my mom is watching the girls and I’m holed up in our local library trying to get school work done and tweak a few more things on the blog. #dontbejealous
We didn’t buy Frozen 2 because it will eventually be on Disney+, but I do plan on renting it tomorrow night for our first official movie night. I’d love to do the whole popcorn/M&M mixture that I’ve seen people do to make it a little exciting for the girls. As long as I can get past the horror of letting them eat popcorn in the living room! ๐
Have a great weekend!
