Happy Wednesday! Schools are cancelled today due to snow. I worked on this post last night around 8pm and school was already cancelled . . . without a snowflake in sight! Here’s hoping by the time this post goes live we have a significant amount of snow to go out and play in!
What We’re Eating
Nothing too exciting in the food department lately. We had some good meals out during Matty’s birthday weekend extravaganza, but my cooking has been pretty standard.
Monday: Salmon Patties, green beans, veggie tots
Tuesday: Beef Stew (A recipe that I definitely want to share soon!)
Wednesday: Pasta sauce with ground sirloin served over spaghetti squash
Thursday: Leftovers
Friday: Leftovers again, most likely!
My favorite snack lately has been plain Greek yogurt topped with sliced strawberries, slivered almonds, and chia seeds. The strawberries add just enough sweetness to counteract the plain yogurt. And it looks so cute in my new bowls from Costco that I’ll talk about later in the post!

What I’m Reminiscing About
Besides the comfort and familiarity of my old blog platform??
This picture popped up on my feed today. I’m not exactly sure what year it was, but definitely before children or pregnancies. Matty and Sydney were napping, I was reading . . . it was cottage bliss! It’s not so quiet on the cottage deck these days!

What I’m Loving
These bowls from Costco! I got ten 10oz bowls for $10! The colors are so cute on the outside, and they have cute designs on the inside. They are perfect for the girls’ morning oatmeal, a serving of yogurt and fruit for me, or some leftovers at lunch. I love seeing them stacked in my cupboard, and I love using them!

What We’ve Been Up To
Lucy had pajama day at school on Monday, and of course Emmy wanted to wear her pajamas too! I compared this year’s picture to last year’s and what a difference a year made for Emily Roses!

What I’m Dreading
Nothing at the moment!
What I’m Working On
- Figuring out all the blog things. I’m a broken record, I know!
- School work for the class I’m taking.
- It’s about time for me to start planning Emmy’s 3rd birthday party!
What I’m Excited About
Honestly? The possibility of Matty working from home today due to the snow is pretty exciting!
What I’m Watching/Reading
I’ve been doing different workouts other than the treadmill lately, but when I do get on there I’m making my way through Cheer! It’s so interesting. The stunts are unreal, and I can’t believe how hard those cheerleaders work! I haven’t finished it yet, but I definitely recommend!

Matty and I just started watching The Outsider on HBO. We’re only two episodes in, but it is GOOD! Very intense, but good.

And, of course, I’m still watching The Bachelor. I feel like this season is kind of a bust and I’m really just hanging on to see who Peter’s mom loses her mind over (fellow Bachelor Nation people, you know the preview I’m talking about!) #bringherhome

I recently finished reading “The Flatshare.” (side note: no clue how to include those Amazon links yet) (double side note: Yes, I KNOW that book titles are supposed to be in bold or italicized, but I can’t figure out how to do it. No joke. And if I keep googling every little thing I still need to figure out, it will be midnight before I finish typing this post!) Anways, I really liked it! I was a little unsure based on the unlikely premise of the story, but it went a little deeper than I thought it would, and I couldn’t put it down. Basically, it’s about a man and woman in London who end up sharing a flat to save money, but they’ve never met. The man works nights so he gets the flat during the day. The woman works days so she gets the flat at night and on the weekends, and they begin to get to know one another through notes left around the apartment. Read it, you’ll love it!

I picked up Michelle Obama’s book “Becoming” from the library the other day because I’d heard a lot of good things about it. So far it’s a lot about her childhood, and I’m having trouble staying interested. If I’m being honest, I really just want to read the parts where she talks about living in the White House and all the crazy juicy stuff that goes on behind the scenes. What chapter does THAT show up in??

What I’m Listening To
If the girls are around, it’s the Frozen 2 soundtrack. All. The. Time. Even Matty has been walking around the house singing “Lost in the Woods.”

If the girls aren’t around, or if I decide to pop in my ear buds while they’re watching a show, I’m still making my way through Stephen King’s “11-22-63,” and it is PHENOMENAL! I only have about seven hours left, and I cannot get enough of it! My mother-in-law recently made a solo six hour drive to Bloomington, IL to visit Matty’s sister and family. I found myself wishing I was doing a solo six hour drive just so I could listen to this book!

What I’m Doing This Weekend
Well, we have a bonus day in February this year so we better make the best of it! Honestly, though, other than celebrating my friend Lisa who is do with her second baby girl SOON, we’ve got nothing on the calendar.
Fun Fact: My cousin Jessica actually got married on February 29, 2016! So, technically, she and her husband will be celebrating their first anniversary this weekend! ๐
Here’s Lucy all dolled up and ready to go to her first (and only, so far) wedding celebration.

And the adorable bride and groom!

What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month
This sweet girl’s THIRD birthday . . . on the very last day of March!

I hope everyone has a great weekend . . . see you back here in MARCH!
XOXO
Thanks for the shoutout ๐ Lucy was so cute at the wedding, and somehow just gets cuter every day! And I STILL want a skirt like you wore.
I *loved* 11.22.63 and am glad you’re enjoying it too. I put The Flatshare on my list! The Barack and politics section starts about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way through Michelle Obama’s book. ๐
Big fan of your new blog and I am sure you will get the hang of things soon!
Thanks for the tip on the Obama book, I’m still plugging along ๐ I am OBSESSED with listening to 11.22.63. After dinner this week I’ve been asking Matt to take the girls and do something with them so I can put in my ear buds and listen while I clean up the kitchen. And I may or may not be giving the girls a little extra ipad time so that I can continue listening while they’re awake in the afternoon! ๐
