No, it’s not a pregnancy announcement! Jeesh!
Read until the end, though, because we are up to something exciting this week!
But first, a little recap of our Thanksgiving week(end).
Tuesday night brought some much needed mama time! I swear, we could sit there and chit chat all night long if we could stay awake for it!
Wednesday was a weird weather day. Warmer, rainy on and off, and SUPER windy. We went to Target in the morning and had to sit in the car for a bit to wait for the rain to let up before we dashed inside.
When it let up from a downpour to just a decent rain, we made a break for it. As soon as we walked in the door, there was a huge boom of thunder and a crack of lightning . . . and the power went out! The workers said we could continue shopping, so we stayed and had ourselves a little adventure!
Every once in awhile I feel so tired that I have lie down with the girls during rest time. That happened on Wednesday, and I had my own weighted blanket to keep me warm! ๐
I should mention that our power went out for about 10 minutes on Wednesday afternoon. Then around 9:00 Wednesday night it went out again. When it didn’t come back on after about 15 minutes, Matty got to fire up our new generator for the first time and he was PUMPED! It really was pretty awesome. We were able to have the furnace, fridge, Christmas tree lights, TV, and all the bathroom and bedroom lights working all night long. It was like we hadn’t even lost power!
We celebrated Thanksgiving at my parents’ house, and Lucy and Sadie ended up twinning!
The three littles played so well together all day long!
These two enjoyed hiding under all the tables!
My mom and dad listening to Lucy sing her Thanksgiving song . . .
. . . and then getting distracted by the football game!
The littles helped us prep for our annual gift card exchange . . .
. . . and then sat nicely while we played.
Matty enjoyed his favorite pumpkin pie.
And Emmy enjoyed hers too!
We have these kiddos trained so well. We were going to take some pictures of the kids with my mom. We always take photos by this chair at my parents’ house, but my Uncle Jim happened to be sitting in it. They didn’t even pay attention to the fact that it wasn’t my mom in the chair. They just knew that someone said picture time and that Uncle Jim was there, so they got right to it!
And then they all tried to take a selfie with Aunt Donna . . .
. . . and after a minute or two of not figuring it out . . .
. . . someone just took the picture for them!
And this is what happens when we do our little family photo last!
Once a year Carla and I have a huge cookie order for Small Business Saturday at a hardware store near my parents’ house. I thawed out the 350 chocolate chip cookies I had made, boxed them up, and headed back Downriver to deliver the cookies.
On Saturday, our plan was to change Emily over into her big girl bed. She’s constantly rolling around and hitting the sides of her crib and getting uncovered and calling for me at night. We thought that putting her in a twin bed with a big comforter that could be tucked in tight might help. We explained everything to her, and she seemed super excited. She even happily posed for this picture when I told her it was the last time she’d wake up in her crib.
And then at breakfast Emily happened to ask Lucy when she’d get her crib back . . . and Lucy bluntly told her NEVER! We could see the progression of confusion/horror on Emmy’s face until she finally had a total meltdown! That sweet girl couldn’t eat a bite of her breakfast. She kept crying to be wiped up and go in her crib. So Matty took her up there and she played quietly in her crib for a while. Needless to say, we did not take apart the crib!
There’s been a lot of wrestling while Matty’s on vacation.
But he also knows how to calm them down, too!
Yesterday was December 1, which means our Elf on the Shelf was due to return. Here I am at 10:00 Saturday night once I finished getting everything set up.
Raspberry the Elf brought the girls this cute manger scene toy. The angel plays “Away in a Manger,” and it’s so precious!
Oh, and a few new Christmas books!
Oh, and then I woke up bright and early on Sunday morning and my very first thought was that I had forgotten about the Advent calendar that I had been keeping in the garage . . . so I ran down and grabbed it to add to the table. Look how tall it is! Rather than candy, there’s a cute little Disney book each day until Christmas. Thank you to my SIL, Carla, who found it for me!
The girls were so happy to see Raspberry again . . . and also to be eating some TimBits along with their frittata and fruit.
Phew!
It’s been a great weekend, and it’s not over yet!
This is my only post for the week because . . .

.
THE KISSELS ARE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!!!!!
AHHHHHHH!
I am SO EXCITED!
It feels like we’ve been planning this trip forever, and I can’t believe it’s finally here!
I told myself I wasn’t going to go crazy with the girls’ outfits, but it turns out I couldn’t help myself!
The four of us, plus the two grandmas, are going to do all things princess, and I cannot wait to see the girls react to everything!
I’m going to be calm, I’m going to be collected, and I’m going to have a blast with my sweet girls!
And, most importantly, may the magic be stronger than the germs! ๐
Have a great week!
If you need me I’ll be basking in the warm, sunny weather while eating all the Mickey shaped treats we can find!
XOXO
