Happy Monday!
I’ve got a long one for you today. A random outing to the Novi Pet Expo turned into the best day ever for us, and I’ve got the pictures to prove it.
First things first, though.
We finally got Emily’s first ever school pictures back, and I’m in love!
Emmy’s class goes outside unless it’s under 20 degrees. Brr!
So every Friday we have to lug all of her gear to school, put it all on, play outside for 15-20 minutes, and then take it all off before I can put her in her car seat. I guess it’s worth it to see this cute smile, though.
After we picked Lucy up from school on Friday we had a few errands to run. The girls spent a loooong time checking out the toys!
I got a paper towel delivery from Target and was slightly annoyed that I was going to have to pop all the ridiculous bubble wrap they used . . . on my PAPER TOWEL! But then I realized my little helpers would enjoy it more than I would!
Matty was living his best life on Friday night!
Saturday morning we went to Costco and then spent the afternoon and evening celebrating Grandma Rita’s birthday.
Sunday morning we decided to go to the Novi Pet Expo, and it was awesome!
We got there right when it opened, and the first thing we saw was That Guy With the Birds. He was seriously the nicest person ever and was so good with Lucy. She had a blast holding the birds!
That red bird is Alvy, and she was in her early 30s! The man said he had one bird at home who was 70!
They were all so beautiful!
Emily was not too interested in the birds, but was super excited about the bounce house area!
Since they had just opened, the girls had the eight bounce houses all to themselves, which was awesome. They made a beeline for this princess house. . .
. . . and then decided to give this obstacle course a try. Emmy made it as far as that tall wall and then had to come out. Lucy climbed up, heaved herself over, and slid right down!
After the bounce houses we went into this cool tent to feed monarch butterflies. Please see the next three pictures to see how much Emmy loved it. #sarcasmfont
If looks could kill, that butterfly would be a goner!
What’s not to love?! They were so beautiful!
I think it might have had something to do with the fact that she’d been awake since 5:30am!
Lucy was in her element, and I was a little worried that she was going to have a meltdown when I said we needed to leave, but she did great.
She finally cracked a smile, and Lucy snapped a picture!
After the butterfly house we discovered a pile of sleeping puppies! I dare someone to not find this incredibly adorable! (I’m looking at you, Carla!)
This lady let Lucy pick which puppy to wake up and pet!
Emmy was more interested in her snack than in the giant dog standing next to her.
And then we entered the reptile portion where Lucy got to pet a snake . . .
. . . a lizard . . .
. . . and a 60 pound snapping turtle!
So this turtle is 27 years old! The man holding him said he got him 27 years ago when he was the size of his thumb nail! We were nervous and wouldn’t let Lucy go near the head, but we did let her touch the shell. The man had pictures displayed everywhere of his young grandchildren playing with and laying all over this turtle! He said in 27 years he’d never once bitten anyone. There’s a first time for everything, though, right?!
I asked him to smile, but this is all he’d give me. He must be a little slow to come out of his shell around new people. #turtlehumor
And then we had to go back to the bird guy!
And this time I got in on the fun!!
This is me giggling because I was convinced I was going to get pooped on.
And then we went back and let the girlies bounce some more before going to Chipotle for lunch.
And on the way home we stopped and bought a new toilet for our master bathroom.
(Matty says this picture is much more manly than the one of him on the couch!)
Emily stayed awake the entire ride home and then fell asleep in the time it took for us to unload the new potty out of the car. Of course she woke up as soon as I tried to get her out.
Lucy was gloved up and excited to help her daddy install the new toilet!
Phew!
And in between all of that, we hung some new pictures and did a little more decorating for Christmas.
I may or may not have a post on Thursday. I’m working on some Christmas projects in the evening this week, so it’ll depend on how those are coming along.
Have a great week!
XOXO
