Happy Monday!
I’m hoping a fresh new week will also signal a fresh, new beginning for the Kissel household. The girls both had bad colds last week. Anytime Emmy has an illness it always transitions right into a major sleep regression, and this one was a DOOZY.
I say “was” because as I type this on Sunday night, Ems finally went to sleep without a fight. Probably because she skipped her nap and had about six major tantrums throughout the day so she was too exhausted to put up a fight.
Poor Lucy Belle had a major tantrum on the sidewalk in the middle of our walk today. Thank goodness it was a beautiful day and everyone’s windows were open so they didn’t miss it.
#sarcasm
I think Lucy’s bad cold combined with her trepidation about starting school today has thrown the poor little girl for a loop. So I have a little bit of sympathy for her. But not for Ems . . . that baby needs to straighten up! ๐
Are they going to a tea party, you ask?
Nope.
A trip to the doctor for Lucy and nap time for Emmy, but we are treading lightly and picking our battles lately.
I dropped my car off at Costco to get new tires and had two hours to kill with these little ladies. The only stores within walking distance were Kohl’s and Costco so we divided our time, and everyone did great!
Just a girl and her dolly searching for dragon flies. Lucy’s current obsession is patrolling the woods in our backyard looking for them.
There’s been a little more TV time the past few days with both girls not feeling well. It’s hard to feel badly about it, though, when they snuggle up like this!
Enjoying our neighborhood paths on a beautiful night.
We went to get some mums on Saturday morning. I swear Lucy finds animals wherever she goes! She loves all animals so much. Pretty soon I fear it’s going to be time for me to decide what I love more: my daughter and her need for a pet . . . or my clean, pet hair free house.
We had the grandparents over for a special Grandparents Day celebration this weekend, and the girls were super focused while helping me make a pineapple pudding cake for dessert.
We took everyone to the South Lyon Hotel for dinner and then came back home for gifts and dessert. The girls got their grandparents some cute books. I also decorated clay planters with the girls’ handprints and thumbprints . . . and totally forgot to take a picture. #bloggerfail
The girls were being read to by their grandparents, and we got to relax for a few minutes. I knew story books were a great gift! ๐
Sunday morning snuggles.
The rest of Sunday was a DAY, let me tell you!
While I was rocking Emmy to sleep, Matty decided to be #1 hubby and fold the basket of the girl’s laundry I had in the hallway. It would have been much better if the laundry wasn’t DIRTY, though!
hahaha
Today we officially start our fall schedule. Lucy will be going to preschool on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. Emmy and I will do a parent/tot class on Friday mornings. I’m looking forward to a little more routine and structure, but will definitely miss Lucy while she’s at school. That sweet girl is so nervous even though it’s the same teacher and classroom as last year! Wednesday is her first official day without me, and I’m hoping for a smooth, tear-free drop off!
Have a great week!
XOXO
