When it rains, it pours.
We’ve had beautiful, sunny weather outside lately, but a combination of the following things has been a recipe for a perfect storm at the Kissel house:
1. An ornery, disagreeable four-year-old.
2. A husband who has been super busy with work commitments.
3. A toddler who doesn’t want to nap, screams bloody murder at all hours of the night, and deems it necessary to wake up between the hours of 4:45am and 6:00am no matter how much/little sleep she has gotten.
My goal for yesterday was to NOT run to the garage freezer and stuff a cookie in my mouth every time there was a tantrum going on . . . and I’m proud to see I achieved that goal. Barely.
This is Emmy after 30 solid minutes of screaming at nap time. She slept for 5 minutes and then woke up when I tried to lay her down. Why did I try to lay her down you ask? Because Lucy was on the loose in the house and I was worried that if I left her unattended too long that she’d find her way outside to kiss a salmonella covered frog or pet a snapping turtle . . . because the girl WILL NOT stay away from any type of living critter. But that’s a blog post for another day.
I’m tired of not enjoying my kids, so I’m making this a short post so I can go cross a few things off my to do list and then relax a little before bed and wake up tomorrow ready to tackle whatever crazy behaviors are thrown my way. . . in a positive, well-meaning mama kind of way.
Have a great weekend!!
XOXO
