Happy Monday!
First order of business . . . when I typed this post last night, my blog design was not showing up at the top of the page. Hopefully it’s fixed by now, but if not, it’s on my list of things to figure out this week.
I hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather!
We spent the weekend at the cottage . . . WITHOUT KIDDOS! We gathered a bunch of friends, everyone got babysitters, and we had a great weekend!
But first, last Thursday the girls and I enjoyed the amazing upper 70’s/low humidity temperature and spent the entire day outside.
We went to my friend Marie’s house Thursday morning where the girls played hard, ran around outside like crazy, did the swings, and jumped on the trampoline. We took a lunch break and then played some more. It was the perfect play date!
Apparently, the epic outdoor play date wasn’t enough to tucker Emmy Roses out because she did not nap Thursday afternoon. Instead, we went outside and got our hair done by the girls across the street!
And then we made the rounds and played on everyones play grounds. Lucy loved this swing!
Emmy spent a good amount of time giving underdogs to pretend people on the swing. Whatever keeps her busy, right?!
We ate dinner on the deck and then took an adventure walk down a path in our neighborhood we hadn’t checked out yet. It was pretty secluded and so pretty.
And then Friday morning after breakfast I drove the girls down to my parents’ house, and I was a free mama by 11:30am. I went home and cleaned the house and packed my bags. Matty got home around 3ish, we loaded up, and hit the road to the cottage! We stopped for dinner on the way and then headed right down to the boat once we arrived at the cottage.
A sunset boat ride was the perfect way to relax!
The Heinbuchs arrived later in the evening.
We had a gloriously slow, quiet morning and then this guy had his Bloody Mary and was ready for a late morning boat cruise.
We spent the entire afternoon on the boat, and it was glorious! It was warm enough in the sun, but not so warm that we were sweaty and gross. It was the perfect day!
While we were living it up at the cottage, the girls were having fun with their cousins at my parents’ house. Sadie made a giant peanut butter blossom with this giant Hershey Kiss my mom got her!
They took it over to my parents’ house so that Lucy and Emmy could enjoy it too. I mean, you could probably get like four more mouths around that thing!
Meanwhile, back at the lake we took a break to go up to the cottage to eat pizza, then we made some margaritas and got back on the boat for the world’s longest booze cruise! How awkward am I in this picture?? I had no clue what to do with my hands!
I’m not sure what I did to deserve this, but Matty spent about 45 minutes sitting behind me giving me a massage. So, to recap, I was on a boat with a margarita getting a massage without any kiddos crawling onto my lap. #heaven
I took a screen shot of my phone at 9am on Sunday morning . . . because that’s what time I rolled out of bed!!
One last picture as we all walked out to our cars. The Crupis were supposed to be there as well but ended up not making it . . . and we missed them!
And then we drove home to our girls and spent the rest of the afternoon/evening outside. And the only picture I have is of Emmy doing this at the playground!
While I did feel a little guilty about leaving the girls with my parents for an entire weekend, it turns out that it’s just what this mama needed! I had such a great weekend with friends and felt relaxed and excited to play with the girls when we got home. I also feel ready to handle the crazy week I have ahead of me. So, apparently, the key to being a happier, better mama is to take the weekends off! ๐ #justkidding
Have a great week!
XOXO
