Literally and figuratively!
I’m not sure what the Kissels did to upset the balance of things, but the universe was definitely not on our side this past week.
This post is coming to you from my mother-in-law’s couch on Sunday night.
Why?
Because we’ve been without power since 6pm on Saturday.
And that was just the icing on our cake of bad luck this past week.
First, Matty had his last minute trip to Mexico Sunday through Thursday.
During that time Lucy slept like an absolute champion, as always.
Unfortunately, Emmy did not. She decided to go through some kind of regression again and starting waking up every hour and a half to two hours. When I’m on my own and exhausted, I relented a bit and rocked her A LOT. Also, one night we got a super bad storm and I was nervous we were going to lose power, so that didn’t help me sleep any better!
We were so excited to pick Matty up from the airport Thursday afternoon and then we were heading to the cottage with friends on Friday morning. Well, about two hours after he got home he started having really bad stomach issues. It got so bad that he ended up at urgent care Friday morning and we had to cancel our trip!
While I was wrangling the girls on Friday and trying to let Matty rest, I looked up at Emmy while we were doing a puzzle and she had the worst green runny nose ever! Just like that. And it went downhill from there.
Matty was feeling better on Saturday so we decided to venture out to dinner. A major storm rolled through again while we were out and by the time we got home at 6:00ish we had no power! Almost everyone around us in our neighborhood has a generator . . . except us! (That will be changing very soon!) We hunkered down for a warm night of sleep. Emmy was a hot, sweaty, snotty mess and I was up with her most of the night. Thirty-two pounds of dead weight sleeping on me in a hot room with no air flow. Things could be worse, I know, but I’ve definitely had better nights!
When the power still wasn’t on yesterday morning, we loaded up a lot of the contents of our fridge and took it across the street to our neighbor’s house.
When the power still wasn’t on by nap time, we decided to pack up while Emmy slept and then head down to Grandma Rita’s. As of 9:30 last night we still had no power. Here’s hoping it’s back on today!
The weather is looking much more pleasant this week, thank goodness! I’m hoping that our luck takes a turn for the better this week as well. ๐
XOXO
