. . . and it’s gonna feel so good!
Matty comes home this afternoon and all will be right in my world again. We definitely work better as a team!
The girls and I had a good four days up until bath time last night. Fussy girls plus a tired mama did not equal our best fifteen minutes. ugh!
I spent Sunday night at my parents’ house with the girls and shared a bed with Lucy. Lucy shares her bed like she shares her toys: terribly. No matter how many times I moved her over, she rolled right back over to me. When I “woke up” in the morning (I use that term loosely because there wasn’t much sleeping on my part), Lucy was laying horizontally in the bed with her feet by my neck!
Monday was a hot one, and we spent the day swimming with cousins. Emmy has taken a liking to wearing goggles. Given how adorable she looks, I’ll definitely be getting her a pair of her own!
Cousins!
As I was taking one of the girls back into the house to get changed, my favorite pair of flip flops broke! Correction, my second favorite pair broke. My very favorite pair broke at the end of last year after four years of use. I couldn’t find a similar pair to replace them with, so I have been wearing this pair all day every day. Until Monday when I had to wear my mom’s flip flops home that are two sizes too small. Now all I have left are a sad pair of black Old Navy flip flops that I don’t even like that much. It’s affecting me deeply. #joking #sortof
I kept trying to leave to get my nails done while Emmy napped, but Lucy was extra fussy and only wanted me. I wasn’t surprised when she cried for a few seconds and then passed out on me. Definitely better than a manicure!
Until Emmy woke up suddenly and was inconsolable for almost ten minutes. She screamed for me when my mom picked her up and then continued to scream while I held her . . . and Lucy kept napping! #likefatherlikedaughter
I’m not sure what Emmy’s deal was, but after a lot of cuddles, some teddy grahams, and some Daniel Tiger was calmed down a bit.
I took the girls home Monday evening, and we spent Tuesday just hanging around the house playing. The heavens opened up in the afternoon and we got about 45 minutes of a monsoon before things finally let up and we were treated to this awesome double rainbow!
Last week Emmy’s favorite station at gymnastics was the monkey bars. This week she was all about the balance beam. Oh, and the girl refuses to participate in the stretches at the beginning of class. Probably because she knows it’s pointless because she’ll never be flexible enough to touch her toes . . . just like her mama!
We spent some time at the pool after nap, and then I took the girls out for pizza for dinner last night. They were definitely tired from their day, but did a fantastic job!
A quick stop at our neighbor’s house for birthday cupcakes and then back home for bath time, Face Time with daddy, and bed. Emmy was the very last kiddo to finish her cupcake!
This box of goodies from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale was the perfect follow up to our bummer of a bath time. Don’t worry, I’m not keeping all of it. It’s always free shipping and free returns, so my strategy was to order multiple sizes and colors of the same style to avoid things selling out on me. Here’s hoping my strategy worked!
Have you seen the weather report for the next few days? Record breaking heat and humidity? We’ll be with our friends and their kiddos at our non-air conditioned cottage. Great for adults, tough for kiddos, especially at bed time. Here’s hoping we can get them to float in the lake all day and sleep well all night!
Have a great weekend.
Stay cool!
XOXO
