Happy Thursday!
We are back to life as we know it after an awesome six days at the cottage. The weather was HOT HOT HOT Wednesday through Saturday. Then Saturday late afternoon the breeze picked up, the humidity died down, and the temps got a bit more manageable. Triple hot days are amazing for floating in the lake, but not so much for kiddos sleeping in warm rooms with the doors closed.
Other than a trip to the playground and an ice cream outing, we just stayed at the cottage and enjoyed the water.
I have a ton of pictures. Like, A LOT!

I might offer some commentary here and there, but for the most part I’ll just let you enjoy the cuteness. The reason for this is twofold: 1. I don’t really feel like explaining every little detail and 2. We’d like to start watching the new season of Stranger Things tonight which means I’ve get to shake a leg!
Ok, first things first. On Thursday morning we took a golf cart ride around part of the lake. We saw two giant St. Bernards and stopped to pet them . . . and saw that behind them was a pen with TEN puppies!! We hit the cuteness jackpot, and Lucy was OBSESSED. She went three days in a row to see the little fluff balls.
They were all boys! What are the odds?!
Side note: The owners of these dogs also have nine children. Apparently large litters of puppies AND large litters of children are their thing. 😉
All of the kiddos took boat snoozes on the same day. It. Was. AMAZING.
Throwing snacks into the water so Matty could try and catch a fish with that green net . . . and he did!! Might have been the most exciting moment of our trip.
The kiddos did way better in the deep end. None of them loved walking around in the sand at the island, so we all just put on life jackets and floated around in the deep end. So much fun!
One of the days I stayed at the cottage to bake cookies and then delivered them to the boat. These girls live the life!
There are no words.
Except that, don’t worry mom, they were both empty.
She gets it from her daddy!
Also, if we were floating in the water and wanted another drink Lucy was our girl! She loved climbing up the ladder, finding the correct color beer can, and launching it into the lake to us!
It was hot, muggy, and buggy, but the view from the boat did not disappoint on the 4th of July. The best part was that all the kiddos slept right through the fireworks!
We had cupcakes for Eleanor’s birthday, and these kiddos were hamming it up!
They took every single toy and put it on the couch.
When daddy is in charge in the morning.
How they felt about me not going on the boat.
Matty and my standard ice cream order is to split a flurry with peanut butter cups and banana.
So delicious!
Emmy decided to try a strawberry sundae for the first time. Before I even asked her how it was she declared, “Mommy, I loved it!”
We roasted s’mores our last night. The kids filled their bellies, ran around the front yard like crazy people, then went straight into the tub.
Driving home on Monday with random books they swiped from the cottage.
A lunch stop at Chipotle . . .
. . . followed by a warm cookie!
Once we got home, Matty cut the grass while I unpacked, but not before Lucy tried on his glasses and hat.
“Vacationing” with little kiddos is not really a vacation. Not pictured are the countless baskets of laundry to fold, dishes to load/unload, meals to plan, grocery runs, messes to clean up, meltdowns, tantrums, and bedtime boycotts. But it’s all worth it to see family and watch the kiddos have so much fun together.
That being said, Sarah and I have decided that there needs to be some all-inclusive resorts in the USA that we can all go to where our only responsibility will be to play with the kiddos at the beach and pool while the resort provides our meals and cleans our rooms. 🙂
Thanks for hanging in there until the end.
Have a great weekend!
XOXO
