Whoa.
I’m not sure what happened to our lazy days of summer because our weekend was BUSY!
It started out with some Friday night boating, then off to a street fair and swimming on Saturday, and we finished the weekend off with a pretty awesome day at the Rocket Mortgage Classic downtown. In other words, I spent a lot of time sweating this weekend. A LOT!
Because I knew we had a busy Friday evening and the girls were going to be up way past bedtime, we kept our day pretty low key on Friday. It started out with breakfast on the deck, and the girls figured out how to lower the umbrella.
Emmy’s new kitty cat helmet arrived!
And Lucy worked on her cutting skills!
Matty came home a little early on Friday, and we loaded up and set out for our friends’ house on Whitmore Lake. They had some buckets of water for the kiddos to play with on the boat, and Lucy took full advantage.
We went to a sand bar and spent some time swimming . . .
. . . and jumping!
Emmy went in the lake with me for a few minutes, but was happy as a clam playing on the boat.
Crazy drivers!
After swimming and snacking with these sweet kiddos, we boated up to a tavern, grabbed some pizza, and ate it on the boat while we cruised. It was a great night!
The girls slept in a bit on Saturday, and then I loaded up the car (again!) and the three of us headed to my parents’ house for the day so Matty could get some projects done around the house.
It was 93 degrees and humid, but we braved the heat and went to the Trenton Art Fair. The first thing we saw was Karma the therapy dog and we all loved her!
We were all sweating like crazy, but the girls did great. I think I was ready to leave before they were!
They picked out these adorable wooden mermaids that we’re going to hang in their bathroom!
The only way to cool off from the fair was to take a dip in papa’s pool.
The water was like bath water, but still refreshing!
Post swimming chocolate malts, of course!
We left my parents’ around 4:15, and the girls were still awake by the time we drove by the mall around 45 minutes later so I decided to stop and run into Athleta quick. They had been so good all day long, but I pushed my luck with the mall stop. Not sure what I was thinking!
We finally got home to daddy around 6:30, had a quick dinner, and then a quick scooter ride down to see Matty’s coworker’s new Jeep.
And then on Sunday morning Matty and I and the Heinbuchs set out early for a fun filled day of golf.
Matty got tickets through work, and the amenities did not disappoint!
Our passes included free parking and then a ride on VIP bus to the golf course. These two were excited and ready to see some golf!
None of us knew what to expect . . . and it was awesome! The Hitachi area was in a great location where we could see golfers tee off from two different holes and see them finish at another hole.
Free food and drinks, too!
I don’t really care for golf, but even I could appreciate the view!
The day was awesome. We were there from 11-4:30, and it was HOT HOT HOT! There were a few shady areas, but for the most part we were in the sun and we were all so sweaty.
You guys, when we first walked in I had to use the bathroom and almost went to the dreaded port a potties. Matty suggested I wait to see what the accommodations were like when we got to the Hitachi area, and I’m glad I waited! They had a huge air conditioned trailer with six individual women’s bathrooms that were nicer than some restaurant bathrooms! I was impressed!
Did I mention the cocktails were free??
There’s me . . . pretending to be interested in golf!
Matty said he was so focused on trying to fit us all in the picture that he forgot to smile normally. #rookiemistake
And after sooo many hours of sun and golf, we ended our night with dinner at Crispelli’s and a couple of delicious pizzas.
Phew!
I’m ready to spend today doing absolutely nothing. The girls and I will just play at home and maybe hit up the pool if it doesn’t rain.
Today will be my last blog post for a week or so. We leave for the cottage Wednesday morning, and I am ready to unplug and relax! I’ll see you back here next Thursday.
Happy 4th of July!!
XOXO
