Happy Monday!
We had a big night out on Saturday for the wedding of Matty’s coworker. So, I hope you’re prepared to see more pictures of Matty and me than the girls in this post.
Wait, come back!
They’re good pictures, I promise. ๐
I’ll start with a few of the girls!
The weather was looking awesome for Friday, so Matty took the day off to spend with us at home! They started our deck on Friday, so we were up and at ’em filling up a cooler of water and Gatorade for the workers. Lucy enjoyed organizing all the bottles.
The rest of the day was spent going on a walk, hanging out at the pool, taking a family rest time, and then going out for dinner to share a pizza.
Emmy was so proud of her coloring page. That smile is so sweet, but I swear she’s going to need Botox by age twelve! ๐
Lucy likes to eat her pizza like a big girl now and got right to it.
We had a wedding on Saturday afternoon, so Matty drove the girls down to stay at my parents’ house for the night. They had a blast baking cookies and swimming while we partied the night away.
But first, the church ceremony. It was at an Orthodox church, and it was stunning!
After the ceremony, we headed downtown to the Shinola Hotel. We had booked a room there for the night, so we checked in and freshened up before cocktail hour. The hallway was pretty cool!
I forgot to take a picture of the actual room, but I did take one of the bar area.
Dressed up and ready for a fun night with friends!
Can I just say that I think this was the first time we’ve been away from the girls and stayed away from home. It was awesome! I didn’t feel like I needed to wake up and do things around the house . . . because I wasn’t AT the house! I just got to kick back, relax, and enjoy my night . . . and the next morning, too!
We had about an hour before cocktail hour officially began, so we walked to a bar and got Mojitos. I thoroughly enjoyed sitting outside with this handsome fella.
Yes, those are french fries! #classy
You can’t have a mojito on an empty stomach. Maybe you can, but I can’t!
I should have focused more on taking pictures of the venue than of just Matty and me! The reception area was gorgeous and had a rooftop bar adjacent to it. Later into the night we got to see the fireworks from Comerica Park!
Ok, so I decided to grab a few pictures off of Shinola’s website because the space was too pretty not to share. Fun fact: this was the very first wedding to be held at the hotel! Everything went off without a hitch.
This was the bar area for cocktail hour.
This is the view from the bar, and through those doors is the outdoor area.
The ballroom was so pretty! Our table was back by the fireplace.
Cute cookies as favors.
Together . . . at night . . . without kids . . . with fancy clothes and heels!
They introduced the bride and groom and then their entire family immediately joined them and got BUSY on the dance floor for almost 20 minutes! It was something I’d never seen at a wedding before, but so fun to watch.
Matty’s coworkers.
After dinner we went back out on the rooftop for a group photo and then couple photos.
There was a lot of direction by the girls (ok, mainly me!) about how to hold the phone to achieve the most flattering angle. When Matty and I take pictures of the girls we’ll yell “is there a bird on my head?!” to get them to laugh and look at us. I think that’s what was happening here.
And the rest of the night was only documented in Instagram Stories, which means all the craziness disappeared after 24 hours. We had SO MUCH FUN!!
Sunday morning was beautiful, so we walked around the city for a bit and had some breakfast before going to pick up the girls.
Later on Sunday afternoon Matty took both girls to the pool while I ran to the grocery. Lucy was living her best life as she floated around in the pool.
What a great weekend!
We’re ready for a week of hot weather and for our deck to be finished TODAY!
Have a great week!
XOXO
