Our first of many, I’m sure.
Happy Thursday!
We’ve had some great weather this week, we’ve been busy and outside a TON, and I paid for it dearly yesterday.
We started our week with a trip to the mall on Monday morning. We have a wedding on Saturday, and I needed a few things so off we went. I kept my expectations very low, but the girls did a great job! We were there for 2.5 hours, partly because I think Lucy tried on more shoes than I did!
After getting everything I needed, I let the girls burn off some energy at the play place.
One last quick stop at Macy’s resulted in the girls getting themselves all dressed up. It kept them busy while I looked for jewelry. A win for me, but definitely a loss for the person in charge of organizing the racks of jewelry. #oops
Emmy napped while Lucy and I played outside, and then there was some rare post nap sister love.
What’t don’t you see in this photo? . . .
That Emmy yelled “I pooped in my diaper and sat on Lucy!” and then Lucy kicked the phone out of my hand and into my face.
But they’re still super cute!
Emmy got fancy for her pre-bedtime show on Monday night.
Tuesday was the day that did us in.
It was beautiful all day long. We were up and outside playing with neighbors by 10am. At 10:45 we left for a park play date/picnic with our golf night friends.
Lucy can officially cross something off her summer bucket list thanks to Miss Marie helping her climb a tree!
We found a shady spot for lunch. These girls played hard until 1:00.
As we were pulling in the garage after the park, our neighbors were heading to the pool and invited us to go along. We were all hot and sweaty, so I figured the pool seemed like a better idea than nap/rest time. #coolmom
So we swam and swam for about an hour and a half, and Lucy enjoyed her own version of Taco Tuesday!
This girl is a such a little fish!
We got home from the pool around 3:30ish. I gave the girlies a snack, turned on Toy Story 3, and sat down to relax did a 30 minute workout. Seemed like a good idea at the time. I regretted it yesterday morning.
By the time I was done working out, more neighbors were starting to head out front to play. Our neighbors had their sprinkler out, so I brought out our water table and filled it up. All the kiddos rotated between the water table, sprinkler, and squirt gun stations until 6:00!
I brought the girls inside to dry off and feed them some dinner when Lucy had a little melt down because I had mentioned earlier in the day that we might go out for dinner. Anything “good” like Panera or Chipotle is 25 minutes away at that time of day, so I loaded the girls in the car and headed into town for a quick dinner at Leo’s Coney Island.
Look at the concentration of Lucy spreading jelly on her pita bread!
We got home from dinner around 7:30 and went right into bath and bedtime.
By the time I got everyone bathed and in bed it was 8:30. I went outside to clean up all the toys, showered because I felt so gross and sweaty, and then started cleaning up the kitchen and running the dish washer. And by the time I finished everything around 9:00, Matty walked in from golf and I declared myself DONE. We hung out in bed to watch a show. And by “watch a show” I mean I fell asleep immediately.
Not only was there no way I was getting up early to work out yesterday, I ended up sleeping later than my normal wake up time. When I woke up I was sore, tired, and didn’t feel like doing anything. I had a sun/summertime hangover.
And so did Lucy because this is how she was sleeping! ha!
Lucy slept in, but around 11:30 I noticed a change in her behavior and she just disintegrated as the day went on. It was most definitely not a good day, so I have no pictures. Is it weird that I was kind of happy that it continued after Matty got home? Proof that I wasn’t making things up!
I obviously over did it with the girls on Tuesday, but I was just so excited about the warm, beautiful day since they’ve been so rare lately! I guess we’ll have to learn to pace ourselves.
Our driveway is filled with rocks, lumber, and Trex materials, the post holes have been dug and inspected, and they are supposed to start building our deck TODAY! It’s also supposed to rain, so we’ll have to wait and see who will prevail.
We have a wedding this weekend. It’s at the Shinola Hotel, and we got a room for the night! Woo hoo! Would it be frowned upon to duck out of the wedding around 10pm and enjoy the quiet and comfy hotel bed with a luxurious night of sleep? #probably
Have a great weekend!
XOXO
