And by “weekend,” I mean six whole days!
We had a great vacation with lots of pictures to prove it. Grab your coffee, tea, or chocolate bar of choice and enjoy the cuteness!
Our vacation started on Thursday morning with Lucy’s end of the year picnic at Carousel Acres. This guy made for a great welcoming committee!
This picture cracks me up. Notice me leaning precariously over Lucy trying to get a picture of her feeding the lamb . . . all while my friend Erin snapped this from across the pen!
At one point I looked down and saw this sweetness going on! #sistersforever
Lucy’s first year of preschool was a success, and I’ve made some great new mama friends. Can’t wait for summer adventures before another great year of preschool!
Lucy said goodbye to her teacher, and then we went home to load up and head to the cottage!
I had to convince Emmy that she did not need to pack three sun hats!
Here’s me a little sweaty and dirty from the farm and loading up the car, but happy to be driving the first half of the trip ALONE!! Matty’s mom wasn’t feeling the greatest, so she drove to our house and rode with Matt and the girls while I drove her car. I listened to a podcast, and it was absolutely delightful! We stopped for dinner halfway through the trip, and I let Matty have the quiet car for the rest of the way.
The first night of sleep at the cottage usually isn’t the greatest for anyone. After a late night and an extra early wake up, the girls were fading fast by late morning. I could tell it was going to be a day that BOTH girls napped.
Just two guys sitting in a golf cart that won’t start. Ugh!
Thought maybe it was working, but nope! My little helpers did a great job helping me push it back to the garage. I’m happy to report that it started up just fine the next day!
I was right about the naps. Turns out Matty needed one too! I sang a few songs to Lucy and then counted to 100, and by the time I was finished they were both out!
Emmy slept for almost three hours!
While everyone napped, I chatted with Sarah and Tommy while they sloooowly peeled an entire bag of carrots.
The weather wasn’t the greatest on Friday afternoon. There was post nap coloring . . .
. . . and airplane rides.
Oh, and snuggles with Grandma!
After dinner it was chilly but not rainy so we headed out for our inaugural family boat ride.
And when we were about as far away as we could be from our cottage . . . the boat died and wouldn’t turn back on! Thankfully, there was one other boat out on the water that we flagged down. They graciously towed us all the way across the lake back to our dock, where the boat sat for the remainder of the weekend because it was a holiday and no one was available to come and fix it. Boooooo!
Saturday morning breakfast buddies!
Saturday morning we hit up the farm for animals and donuts!
I got the kiddos all set up outside for lunch, and then it started to rain.
I just realized these pictures are out of order, but you’ll get the general idea.
There was a nature adventure walk. That’s Brian’s niece, Riley, and she was a fantastic helper with the kiddos!
There was corn shucking . . .
. . . and there was popsicle eating!
And more snuggles with Grandma!
Matty and Brian went golfing on Sunday, so we took the kiddos to the playground.
And then we colored some more!
We decided to head home after lunch on Monday, but not before one last golf cart ride. Matty had been letting Lucy sit on his lap so he could help her drive, and Emmy finally got up the nerve to give it a try. We weren’t sure what she was going to do once she got control of the wheel . . . it turns out she wanted to make an immediate hard right toward the swamp! She was a crazy driver all over the road, and she had the biggest smile on her face the entire time.
Before we hit the road, I recreated a picture that I took of the kiddos last year.
What a difference a year makes!
Matty had Tuesday off too so we ran errands in the morning and then hit up the pool for the first time of the season. I didn’t take many pictures, but the girls had a blast!
And then yesterday was back to reality, and the girls and I were having major Matty withdrawals!
XOXO
