It’s Friday!!
With all the birthday and Easter basket posts, I haven’t posted about what we’ve been up to in a while. Sit back and relax, because we’ve been up to a lot!
The girls have really been into feeding their stuffies every time we sit down for a meal. On this particular morning, Emmy fed her penguin some pretend pancakes . . .
. . . and then helped Lucy feed Nemo some real cereal!
Gordie is going to Kindergarten next year! Look how proud he is at his round up!
Look at that mischievous smile! See the blue marker all over the table and her hands? It just so happens that her head is perfectly positioned to block the blue marker all over the wall and window behind her! Thank goodness for Magic Erasers.
Walmart is my favorite place to buy the girls’ summer play clothes. They are cute and super cheap, so I don’t really mind if they get dirty or stained with ice cream and popsicles! We went a few weeks ago to pick up some tank tops and shorts ($2.88 a piece!!) and made a stop to check out the Easter toys.
We took advantage of a sunny (but chilly!) afternoon to eat lunch out on the driveway. Fingers crossed that in a month or two we’ll be able to eat lunch on our new deck instead!
We love having the playground all to ourselves!
A few days before Emmy’s birthday, the grandmas each took a girl over night! I dropped Emmy off at my parents’ house and then got myself a manicure!! My mom got me a gift certificate to get my nails done last Mother’s Day, and I still hadn’t used it. I took advantage of having some alone time and finally put it to good use!
I stopped in Canton to do some errands before heading home. I was stuck in traffic on Ford Road, but didn’t mind at all because I was by myself in the car and it was sunny and 68 degrees!!
When Matty got home from work we took advantage of the lovely weather and sat outside to share a beer. Then we hung some new curtains in Lucy’s room and headed to the South Lyon Hotel for dinner. We shared the pickle chips, and they were so yummy!
Two weekends ago we painted Lucy’s room a light gray, and it looks great! Last weekend she got her big girl bunk beds. She had been asking for them for awhile, and we figured they’d come in handy in a few years because the girls are always talking about how they want to sleep in the same room. We spent the rest of the day after Emmy’s birthday party putting them together, and they looked great. I LOVE her new bedding!
Lucy climbed right up the ladder and slept on the top bunk two nights in a row. We knew she’d do great and didn’t really worry about her being up top. What we didn’t realize, however, was that Emmy wouldn’t understand that she was too little and that it was too dangerous for her to be up top. She was constantly trying to go up the ladder, which she couldn’t do on her own, and was flopping around on the top bunk. I could no longer let the girls go upstairs to play alone because Emmy would try to get up to the top bunk. After two days, I had no problem admitting that the bunk beds were a mistake.
Thankfully, the bunks are really just two twin beds connected together, so it wasn’t a huge deal to take the top bunk off. Surprisingly, Lucy didn’t put up a fuss at all! So we’ll either put the top bunk back on in a year or two when Emmy can handle it, or we’ll just put it in Emmy’s room as her twin bed. Either way, we have a bed and the bedding, so we’re all set!
This is how Lucy’s room looks now, and I really love it. Oh, and so does she! ๐
The girls have been into our lacing beads lately, and Matty and Lucy decided to build a tower with them instead.
Lucy was trying to dress Emmy, but was having a hard time getting the shirt to go over Emmy’s head. They thought it was hilarious!
Waiting for Oma to arrive while practicing their flamingo moves.
Emily has been loving these farm lacing toys, and she can do them all by herself!
It’s been chilly and WINDY, but we’ve been braving the weather because we just can’t stay inside any longer.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again . . . Emily Rose is just the sweetest thing ever!
The girls spent about an hour playing so nicely with each other yesterday morning. Granted, it involved bringing every toy from Lucy’s room into our room, but I’ll take what I can get!
Ems was ready for Opening Day! This dress has been worn by Sadie, Lucy, and now Emmy!
My girls were Instagram perfect for about ten seconds. Prior to this photo, Lucy was throwing a tantrum because she didn’t want to go potty before we came outside. After this photo, Emmy was crying because Lucy declared she had to go potty but Emmy didn’t want to go back inside so soon. And then Lucy peed on the bathroom floor. #momlife
I’m not going to lie, the past few days have been a little tough on the Kissel women. We’ve all been exhibiting some behaviors that we’re not proud of. Lucy doesn’t nap anymore, and hasn’t randomly fallen asleep since the end of January . . . yes, I keep track! She randomly put herself down for a nap yesterday, and it was the best gift she could have given me!
And both girls napped AT THE SAME TIME for over an hour! Truly, it was my saving grace. And Lucy was so much more pleasant in the evening. I wish we could figure out a way to have her nap more often. Emmy must have been more tired than usual too because she didn’t move a muscle when I went in and took this picture.
Because Lucy was in such a good mood, Matty took her with him to get his hair cut. They brought back suckers for her and Emmy, which they happily enjoyed right before bath time.
Today we are meeting up with my mom, Carla, and all the kiddos to get pictures with the Easter Bunny! I have no doubt that the kids will be all smiles.
We are heading into the weekend with zero plans except to do our taxes. ugh! It really shouldn’t take that long, though, and I’m so happy to have nothing else on the calendar.
Have a great weekend!
XOXO
