Happy Friday!
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again . . . Day in the Life posts are one of my very favorite to read on other people’s blogs. #nosy
I haven’t done one in awhile, so I decided to capture our day on Tuesday from beginning to end . . . and then right around dinner time I realized I had forgotten to take many pictures! So, I gave it a go on Wednesday instead.
Here’s a pretty average Wednesday at the Kissel house.
I try to wake up early to work out every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
I’ve been following the 21 Day Fix workouts. The program is meant to be done 21 days in a row, but that’s just not a sustainable lifestyle for me, so I’m using the workouts at my own pace. The workouts are all 30 minutes, which is totally doable in the morning.
On my way back upstairs to shower, I stopped in the kitchen to make Matty’s coffee.
After showering and making the bed (a MUST for me in order to start my day), I headed back down to the kitchen for some breakfast and computer time.
After I finished my breakfast, I emptied the dishwasher and got the girls’ morning milk ready.
Around 8:00 I checked the monitor and saw that Emmy was awake. She’s sneaky like that. She usually just sits or stands and plays with her stuffies until we decide to go in and get her!
And then she takes her milk in bed and asks us to cover her up again.
Lucy called for me while I was in with Emmy. She decided to take her milk in bed as well. These girls live the life!
Eventually, we made our way downstairs and the girls watched a Bubble Guppies while I made breakfast.
Honey Nut Cheerios with blueberries. All the meals can’t be winners!
After breakfast the girls played for awhile while I took care of some things. We had ordered some patio furniture from Target on Tuesday night, and when I checked on Wednesday morning it was $80 cheaper! I called to get a price adjustment. Not only did they honor the new price, but they ended up giving us a $100 adjustment instead because they want us to continue to love Target. No problem there!!
I also had to call about a medical bill that needed to be adjusted, and I was only on the phone for thirteen minutes! I was expecting it to be way worse! While I was making my phone calls, Lucy practiced writing her name . . .
. . . and Emmy rode around and took pictures!
We were supposed to go to the Children’s Museum with friends, but that got cancelled, so we headed to the play place at the mall instead.
Emmy kept getting upset anytime another child besides Lucy got near her, so she eventually just sat on my lap and watched.
Sigh.
We did a little shopping afterward and then stopped for a bathroom break before heading home. Emmy was cracking herself up looking for her belly button while Lucy went potty.
We got home around 12:30, and the girls rearranged some things while I made lunch.
After lunch we played for a bit, and then around 1:45 I put Emmy down for a nap and Lucy in her room for some rest time.
And then I put in some laundry.
While I was starting the laundry Emmy started crying really hard, which is rare for her at nap time. I went in and rocked her for a few minutes and then put her back in her crib.
On days when I work out, I usually try to give myself 15 minutes or so to just chill during the girls’ rest time.
Inevitably, Lucy roams in and joins me. Let me tell you, I CRAVE a break from these girls during the day, but I’m also keenly aware that before long Lucy will be in school all day and I’ll miss her terribly. So . . . I rarely make her go back to her room.
She laid with me for a bit and then wanted to take pictures of me while I pretended to sleep. haha
After I finished pretend sleeping, we went downstairs to color and share some cashews . . .
. . . and then Matty showed up an hour early!!!
Honestly, I wanted to jump and straddle him too!
Because he was home so early, Matty got the opportunity to peek in on a sleeping Emmy when it was time to wake her up from nap. So cute!
These silly sisters played so nicely together while we just did random things and then prepped dinner.
A pretty typical dinner lately.
After dinner Matty chased the girls around the house while I closed up the kitchen, and then we hit the road for a chilly walk.
At 7:00 Matty took the girls up for baths while I straightened up and got their rooms ready. I love making their rooms look all cozy for bedtime!
A great picture of everyone getting ready for our nightly show.
Oh, and Lucy changed into a warmer shirt before going to bed!
Just two parents happy that their girls are sleeping!
After we put the girls to bed, Matty went down to workout and I worked on some calendar/organizational stuff. I had a lot of dates and lists going on in my head and that, my friends, is a dangerous thing! I needed to download them from my brain asap before they drifted off never to be thought about again!
A little after 9:00 we closed up shop and went upstairs to shower. After showers we hunkered down in bed to watch an episode of Parks and Rec.
When the episode was over, we checked in on the girls and then I promptly snuggled down and fell fast asleep. This was a little earlier than normal for me, but I was feeling extra tired so I didn’t even attempt to read at all before bed.
And then I got up and did it all over again the next day!
Other than a birthday party on Sunday morning, we have nothing on the agenda for the weekend . . . and that’s a good thing!
Have a great weekend!
XOXO
