Can you believe it’s already March?!
In my opinion, it’s the loooongest month of the year, but hopefully we’ll get a few sneak peeks of some spring weather.
Over the past six months or so I’ve developed a list of tasks that I do on the first of every month. A little household maintenance, if you will, that used to fall by the wayside until I came up with this monthly system.
On the first of every month, the following things happen:
1. Everyone gets a new toothbrush. The girls still get excited for toothbrushes, so they got a bunch in their Christmas stockings and will probably get a few more in their Easter baskets.
Matty and I each got new toothbrushes within the past few months. I got the white one, and Matty got the black.
We really like them a lot, and apparently we’re not the only ones because they have over 7,000 reviews on Amazon! My favorite feature is that it has a red light that blinks when I’m brushing too hard, which I’ve been guilty of my entire life! Hopefully this will help make a difference with my gums. We prefer this style of toothbrush head.
2. I run the cleaning cycle on our washer using these cleaning tablets.
It’s important to make sure there’s no build up or gross smells coming out of your washer!
3. I also clean our dishwasher and garbage disposal. The disposal cleaner foams up and is kind of cool to watch, so maybe save that one for when your kiddos are around to see!
So that’s my monthly routine. I do it all as soon as I wake up in the morning, and it feels so good to cross those tasks off my to do list!

Ok, on to a little life lately!
We had to run to the post office on Monday, and my little helpers are actually starting to be helpful! Errands like this used to annoy me because I’d be juggling packages while trying to get girls out of the car, hold hands, or carry someone into the post office or UPS store. But I’ve finally figured out that the GIRLS can carry most of the packages!
There was a bit of a line, so the girls found ways to entertain themselves. If I’m being honest, I didn’t mind that there was a line. I like the time spent doing the errand to be longer than it takes me to get both girls in and out of their carseats. As a parent, that is one of my least favorite tasks, especially when you throw in winter coats and freezing temperatures! Seriously, give me a dirty booty to wipe any day of the week . . . carseats are the worst!
Lucy has been asking for bunk beds for a long time now. Until her dreams come true, this makeshift set of bunk beds will have to do!
I put a sensory bin together with dried beans and rice in it. Lucy does great with it; Emmy does ok . . .some of the time! I can handle accidental messes, but it’s not cool when she dumps cupfuls over Lucy’s head!
I let Lucy play with the bin while Emmy napped the other day. I buried a bunch of dollar store gold coins inside first, and it made her day!
I was getting things ready for bath time the other night and couldn’t find Emmy. I should have known she’d be quietly reading a book somewhere without pants on. This girl is just so sweet!
We got a couple inches of snow on Wednesday. It was COLD, but not windy, so outside we went!
Emmy was pretending she was a kitty cat and crawled home this way. She only lasted about three houses, but I admired her commitment to the role!
Yesterday was pajama day at Lucy’s school. We had been talking it up for a few days, and Emmy was ready to get in on the fun!
Lucy was so excited to see a tent up when she got to school!
Meanwhile, Emily was NOT feeling story time at the library, but she sure did have fun playing in the kids section.
This play session could have gone wrong at any second. Thankfully, I got some cute pictures before anyone got hurt or cried! This all started by Lucy climbing up on our bed and using her head to push up against Emmy . . .which normally would make Ems fuss or cry. For some reason, she found it funny today and a little kicking/wrestling/hugging session occurred. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to figure these two out!
We have our neighborhood Euchre party tonight, and we just have to walk right across the street to attend!
Other than not losing at Euchre, our only plan for the weekend is to head back to Sherwin Williams and try to find a suitable color for Lucy’s room.
Have a great weekend!
XOXO
