Happy Friday!
Here’s a quick little update on what’s going on with everyone at the Kissel house.

This picture perfectly captures Lucy’s personality right now. She is a mixture of sweet and sassy, and the proportions change on a daily (or hourly) basis!

We’ve started calling Lucy a ‘Lil Mama because she’s taken an interest in helping out with Emily and with household chores. . . when she feels like it ๐ A few weeks ago Em needed an emergency diaper change before I had a chance to clean up from lunch. When I came back downstairs, Lucy had moved all the dishes and placemats from the table to the counter by the sink . . . and she was so proud! Lucy’s favorite task is to help Emily stand on the stool and wash her hands, and she’s always so careful to tell Emmy which faucet not to turn on so she doesn’t get burned. On the flip side, I’ve also heard Lucy say, “Emmy, if you don’t give me that toy right now then you will lose your treat after dinner!” Oops!

I’ve been trying to think of something that Lucy has been really in to lately, but she’s kind of all over the place. Some days she’s all about dress up, others she’s all about babies, and sometimes she just wants to play with her river stones in our empty front room. One thing is for sure, though. You can bet your bottom dollar that as soon as she’s been wiped up after dinner she’ll spend the next 20-30 minutes running around the house like a crazy person! Sometimes Matty chases her, sometimes she chases him, sometimes she runs down our long open pathway from the back of the house to the front room trying to go as fast as she can while yelling as loudly as she can. It’s loud, crazy, and a little dangerous, but she LOVES it.

This picture doesn’t have Em’s signature cheesy smile, but I love it anyway. Emmy is talking up a storm lately. She has no problem communicating what she needs and is using a combination of anywhere from 2-4 word sentences. She mimics everything we say. I must say No Way, Jose a lot because Emmy is always saying, “Nope, Jose!” when she doesn’t want to do something. She also calls her big sister Lucy Belle Kissel, which is adorable! Oh, and she’s very fond of yelling out, “I love you” when she’s talking to someone.

Emmy loves music and is finding her voice with singing. Her current favorites are the ABC Song, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and Up on the Housetop. I have the CUTEST video of her doing a little mash up of all the songs. Unfortunately, Lucy makes a naked cameo after getting out of the bath so I can’t post it. Whenever “A Whole New World” or “Let it Go” come on, she’ll yell out “Jam!” because we always tell her those are her jams.

Emily is currently in one of my favorite phases of play: she loves to sit and take objects out of their bins and line them up. Then she puts them all back in and does it again. She can entertain herself for quite a while, and I’m so grateful for that!

We live by a few golf courses, and every time we drive by one Matty says that he can’t wait until golf season is here again. I think he’s itching for his weekly night off!

He’s also ready for summer time. We are outdoor people, and just the other day we wondered why we live in Michigan instead of Arizona! Matty is ready to take care of his lawn and then sit back and relax on the driveway in one of these chairs that my parents bought him for Christmas.

Matty continues to try to be the best man he can be. He’s eating well, working out regularly, and is the best daddy and husband. He keeps all of us, but especially me, in check around the house! He has the most self control of anyone I’ve ever met!

Motherhood is kicking my butt this week. As we were driving home from the cottage on Monday, Matty and I discussed how well we thought the girls behaved all weekend. Now we’re home, and it’s like someone flipped a switch and they have both gone WACKADOO! The crying, whining, throwing, hitting, kicking, arguing, clinginess. . .it’s at an all time high and I don’t know what to do to break the cycle. I bet a week off in Turks and Caicos would do the trick!

I’m toying with the idea of a little blog overhaul. Ever since Emmy joined the show, I’ve never been happy with the fact that the name of the blog is different from the web address. I’m considering changing the name and buying my own website address so I can have everything match up. I just need to figure out if there’s a way to transfer all of my old posts to the new blog. I’ll figure it all out in my spare time.

I’m currently working on overhauling my lifestyle as well. I’m trying to change things very carefully and deliberately so that my eating and working out become more of a way of life than a diet. I’ve already noticed some differences in my energy levels and a little bit on the scale, but it’s also one more thing to THINK about all the time. The meal planning, meal prepping, work out planning . . . it’s way more work than just ordering a pizza for dinner! ๐ I’m going to keep at it, but I sure do miss the metabolism of my 20s! ๐

My mama friends are coming for dinner and girl time tonight, so my weekend is getting off to a great start! A special advance thank you to Matty for wrangling the girlies upstairs for the hour or so that the mamas will be here before bedtime.
Have a great weekend!
XOXO
