I thought I’d try something new this week and link up with one of my favorite bloggers for What’s Up Wednesday.
1. WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:
Monday: Frittata and Bacon
Tuesday: Taco Salads
Wednesday: Chili
Thursday: Leftovers
Friday: ???
2. WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
After the crazy cold weather we’ve been having, can you blame me for constantly thinking about the days of playing outside with my girlies?
Oddly enough, I’ve also been reminiscing about winter cottage weekends. We always go up for one weekend in the winter, and that’s this coming weekend for us this year!
Packing and prepping has me thinking about winter cottage weekends prior to kids. Just four adults and two dogs walking across the lake followed by naps, drinks, and Euchre. This weekend there will be five adults, four kids, zero dogs, HOPEFULLY kiddos napping, still many drinks, and possibly some Euchre if we can stay awake after the kids go to bed. Oh yeah, and the Super Bowl!
This was February of 2015 . . . just three months away from Lucy’s arrival!
3. WHAT I’M LOVING:
My new makeup storage system! Until a few weeks ago, I used to keep all of my makeup in one big bag. I think it was one of those bags you get with Clinique Bonus Time! I was constantly digging around for everything and thought it was kind of unsanitary that my brushes were just mixed in with everything else. So I ordered this bag from Amazon and was pleasantly surprised!
It comes with more dividers than what you see here, and they are all movable so you can customize your storage. I love it!
I’m also loving these tiny chocolate bars we picked up at Costco last weekend.
They’re teeny tiny, so I don’t feel too bad snacking on one (or two!) throughout the day!
4. WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
Hibernating.
There’s been a whole lot of indoor time over the past few weeks. I’m looking forward to a change of pace/scenery/routine when we head to the cottage this weekend.
5. WHAT I’M DREADING:
I have to go to the Secretary of State to renew my license this year. Boo! Matty told me you can make an appointment now, so I hopped online to do that and the first available appointment was the morning of my actual birthday. Nothing like waiting until the last minute, Molly! I’ll drop Lucy off at school and take Emmy with me. Here’s how she’s been traveling lately:
She’s so cute! Think they’ll let her be in my license picture with me??
6. WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
A super fun (and long!) Valentine’s Day blog post for next week.
And on the home front, I need to get working on window treatments! My super talented friend Lisa did the curtains for our living room and kitchen, but I still have the office, dining room, loft, guest room and our bedroom to do! It’s amazing what a difference some curtains can make, and I really need to get busy!
7. WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:
Summer!
I know we still have a looooong way to go, but bathing suits were out at Target the other day and I couldn’t resist!
8. WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:
We just finished up Bodyguard on Netflix, and it was GOOD! A who dunnit government thriller is right up our alley! All the characters have pretty heavy British accents. At first I kind of wanted to turn on closed captioning, but I eventually caught on to what everyone was saying.
When we just want something quick and light hearted to watch before bed, we’re still binge watching our way through The Office. We just started season nine, so it’ll be over soon and I’m 100% certain I’ll feel a void in my life. Am I the only one like that with TV shows?? This might be the third time I’ve watched The Office all the way through over the years, and it truly never disappoints.
I started watching Parks and Recreation on the treadmill in the mornings, and I enjoy it just as much as The Office.
I just finished reading Swear on This Life and really enjoyed it! It’s about a man and woman who grew up together under not the greatest circumstances but then grew apart. The man writes a book about their lives, but writes it from the girl’s point of view. Chapters in the actual book alternate between real time and what was written in the novel. I really liked it! (PS, the Kindle version is only $2.99!)
I just started reading Something in the Water. I’m not far enough into yet to give an opinion, but I’m enjoying it so far!
9. WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
Moana, Disney Princess music, Trolls, Wheels on the Bus, Baby Shark . . . you get the idea!
When I do find myself in the car by myself, I’ve really been enjoying the Mom Brain podcast. My friend Stephanie recommended it, and it does not disappoint. It’s with Daphne Oz and Hilaria Baldwin, and most of the time I forget that they are part of the rich and famous crowd. They both have a bunch of little kids and have the same problems/concerns/fears I do. I find them to be totally relatable.
10. WHAT I’M WEARING:
All the warm and cozy clothes while I’m hanging with the girls at home.
When I do get dressed in “real” clothes, I’ve been wearing a few great finds from Amazon. Clothing from Amazon is super popular right now, but I find it hit and miss. For example, I’ve ordered eight things over the past few weeks and only two of them were worth keeping. The sizing and quality are inconsistent, in my opinion, but the prices are good . . . so I keep trying!
I’ve already worn this shirt three times in the past two weeks!
And this one was a hit as well!
11. WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
Winter Cottage Weekend!
12. WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
Birthdays and Valentine’s Day!!
Matty and I both have February birthdays, and Valentine’s Day is sandwiched in right between them.
13. WHAT ELSE IS NEW:
Not too much. I’m pretty happy with (and very surprised by!) my commitment to getting up and working out in the mornings. When I’ve tried it before, it’s always felt like such a chore to get out of bed. This time around, though, I just wake up on my own and feel ready to go. Here’s hoping it lasts!
After about four weeks of cleaning up my eating, it’s getting a little easier. Do I miss eating handfuls of chocolate chips? You know it! But can I also tell a difference in how I feel now that I’ve cleaned up my diet? Yep.
Thanks for sticking around til the end!
Hope you’re having a great week, see you Friday!
XOXO
