Happy Friday!
We survived our first week of reentry into our regular routine. The first few days were a little tough for me, but I got my groove back by the end of the week.
We’ve been pretty low key here at the Kissel house. Emmy has a runny nose again and is coughing a lot. No matter what we do, we cannot keep these girls healthy!
The girls’ new favorite post nap activity is to play with all of Em’s stuffies in her room. First, Lucy throws them all into Emmy’s crib, and then Emmy hands them one by one to Lucy who stacks them on the chair. And all the while Emmy jumps up and down as if her crib was a trampoline. It’s a rare sweet moment of sisterly bonding.
Lucy started back to school on Tuesday, and I was so proud of how well she did at drop off. I expected some tears since she’d been off so long for vacation, but she walked right in and did great! Emmy and I ran to Hobby Lobby and Sierra Trading Post, and she hammed it up in the dressing room. I tried on a shirt and she said, “Mommy buy it!” #yesmam
The weather was in the 40s and partly sunny after school on Tuesday so we delayed lunch in order to take a walk around our circle. Lucy pulled Emmy almost the entire way!
Emmy did get out and walk a little bit, but then decided she liked being in the wagon better.
We were pretty loose with our rest time rules over Christmas vacation, and Lucy is having a difficult time transitioning back into our regular routine of playing/reading in her room. She wants to be by me every second of the day. I love it, but I don’t . . . know what I mean?
We did great this week with our workouts and healthy eating. I made a huge batch of spaghetti squash, seasoned chicken breast, and peas for my lunches. It’s yummy . . . for two, MAYBE three days in a row. Definitely not five! Next week I’m going to have to plan some lunches with a little more variety.
Emmy’s new favorite thing is to watch our pre-bedtime show in “Daddy’s Room.” Every night I try to explain to her that it’s my room too, but she says, “No, Daddy’s room!” And she also makes herself comfy cozy in MY spot. I’m fairly certain she’s planning some sort of coup . . . and she looks pretty happy about it!
Lucy had her game face on for school yesterday . . .
. . . and Emmy had her goofy face on at Target!
I got Lucy to stay in her room for like 15 minutes at rest time yesterday, and this is what she did. I loved it!
It even provided some post nap time entertainment as well.
And that was our week!
We have some friends coming over for dinner this weekend which we are excited about. Other than that we’ll be trying to stay warm, playing a lot, and watching The Incredibles . . . because Emmy is seriously obsessed! Hearing her say “Elastigirl” and “Frozone” in her sweet little voice is priceless!
Have a great weekend!
XOXO
