Happy Wednesday!
Several bloggers that I follow do Day in the Life posts, and they are my favorite. I LOVE seeing inside people’s lives. I have a strong need to know what you do all day, how you do things, what you’re doing better than me that I can learn from, how you get dinner made with kiddos running around, how your pantry is organized, what you do to fill that dreaded time between dinner and bath (ha!) . . . you name it, I want to know. It’s a little voyeur-ish, I know . . . but I’m willing to bet a lot of you are shaking your heads in agreement with me!
So I thought I’d give it a try. I set myself a reminder to start snapping away as soon as I woke up yesterday morning. Here’s our pretty average Tuesday!
I woke up at 6:15. Due to a book I’m reading, I did not sleep very well so I was awake before my alarm even went off. I hopped in the shower, woke up Matty (I know better than to photograph him sleeping!), and got ready for the day.
I headed downstairs a little after 7am for breakfast, a little mama quiet time, and to empty the dishwasher. My go to breakfast lately has been this low sugar Greek yogurt with sliced almonds and chia seeds mixed in. Not as yummy as a giant bowl of cereal, but still pretty good!
Yesterday was a school day for Lucy, so around 8:00 I went back upstairs to wake up my two sleeping beauties.
Sisters sharing their morning milk!
The next hour was filled with breakfast, getting dressed, and a lot of whining, crying, clinginess, and tantrums from Emmy. She’s going through something weird right now. She was a nightmare after dinner on Monday all the way until bedtime and then woke up yesterday morning and picked up right where she left off. Lucy must have been able to tell it was stressing me out because she was extra sweet and helpful while getting ready for school. All that to say, we got loaded up and headed off to preschool!
We dropped Lucy off and headed to Meijer to pick up some fruit . . .
. . . and ride the penny pony!
After Meijer we went home to put away the groceries and had a little extra time to watch some of The Incredibles before going back out to pick up Lulu.
Back home from school and super excited because Lucy got to bring home Beary Nice!!
The girls played while I made lunch. They had delicious looking turkey and cheese roll ups with some veggies and dip and watermelon. I had quinoa and kale with chopped up chicken breast. Not the worst meal in the world, but it’s no cheeseburger!
After lunch we played dress up and ballet . . .
. . . and then the girls played together while I cleaned our bathroom.
Around 1:30 I put Emmy down for a nap, and Lucy went in her room for some quiet time. I got myself some bubbly water and some nuts and started working on the pictures I had so far for today’s blog.
I got about thirty minutes before Lucy finished her quiet time box and wandered downstairs. I let her have a little Kindle time . . .
. . . and grabbed my Kindle to join her.
Side note: I recently started reading Elizabeth Smart’s book about her abduction back in 2002. It was recommended on several blogs that I follow. I’m about eight chapters in, and I just don’t know if I can finish it. She was brave enough to live through her ordeal and then write a book about it, but I just don’t know if I’m strong enough to read it. I’m captivated and curious, but I also feel nervous and scared every time I pick it up to read. I happened to read the part about her actual abduction right before bed two nights ago, and I didn’t sleep well at all. I laid there in bed trying to figure out how we could fit both of our girls’ beds in our room so they can always be with us at night. Not joking. My heart broke for her and her family, and it’s basically all I think about during the day. I think I may need to take a break from reading it.
On a lighter note . . .Emmy Roses thankfully woke up from nap happy as a clam!
We headed downstairs for snack and story time . . .
And then moved the snack table to the front room for a birthday party.
I put on the Incredibles while I prepped our dinner. Look how cute their little heads are on the couch!
Matty got home and helped with dinner. Salmon patties and green beans!
While I cleaned up there was play time with daddy . . .
. . . dress up time . . .
. . . and hide and seek!
Then it was clean up time before heading up for baths.
Baths, jammies, and twenty minutes of Incredibles before bed. Their obsession with this movie can end ANY TIME now!
Matty had a conference call at 8pm so we put the girls to bed, and I headed down for some treadmill time and watched an episode of Manifest.
Sweaty and tired, but happy I made myself do it. Pay no attention to Matty’s beer collection behind me!
I took a shower, painted my nails, and finished up the blog post while my nails dried.
It’s now almost 10pm, and it’s time to wrap things up for the day. Matty and I will watch an episode of The Office in bed and then go to sleep and wake up and do it all again tomorrow!
Thanks for following along with my day!
XOXO
