Happy Monday, friends!!
It’s finally December, and the Kissels are definitely feeling the Christmas spirit! Thankfully, Lucy rebounded from her illness very quickly, and no one else got sick.
Here’s what we’ve been up to lately.
Emmy and I ran to Target while Lulu was at school. We had our first incident of her only wanting to sit in the back of the cart. She stayed seated and did a great job.
She did stand up and put every item on the counter, though. Such a good helper!
Emmy was definitely in the Christmas spirit Friday morning!
Lucy and I started wrapping presents while Emmy napped. Once I reminded myself to just have fun and let her help, we had a good time. It was definitely a sloooooow process, and we went through much more tape than usual!
I decided to try a new cookie recipe Friday night after dinner, and Matty and the girls sat at the island to keep me company. Look how sweet these two are!
They eventually moved to the tower to help out . . .
. . . which inevitably lead to this.
The new recipe took longer than anticipated, so Matty got the girls in the tub while the cookies baked. I brought them a warm cookie to eat in the tub, and they were super excited!
We decided to do Elf on the Shelf for the first time this year. I prepped the table after the girls went to bed on Friday night, and they were so excited when they woke up on Saturday morning! Lucy promptly named the elf “Raspberry,” which is a perfect name in my opinion.
After our North Pole breakfast, it was time to go see Santa! This is what happens when Matty is left in charge of helping Lucy get ready.
Their outfits are from Target, and I cannot get enough of Emmy’s! Lucy’s is super cute too. I actually bought hers first, but they didn’t make it in Em’s size so I got her the bear dress and couldn’t love it more. It just suits her!
We made the hour drive down to Ray Hunter Florist by my parents’ house. They have the NICEST Santa, there is never a line, and it’s super cheap. My parents always get their picture taken with Santa, and we let them go first to show the girls how fun it is.
There were no tears, but they were both a little nervous . . . especially Emmy!
Nobody sat on Santa’s lap this year. If they had already been crying then I definitely would have just plopped them on Santa’s lap anyway, but since they were doing a good job I didn’t see the need to force it. The store takes a picture and prints it for you, but this is one that Rita snapped with my phone.
Santa was so great with the girls and did his best to get them to smile and talk to him. Lucy was so sweet telling him what she wanted for Christmas, and she even told him Emmy’s wish list too!
And then since there wasn’t anyone else there, he even came out to chat some more while we were walking around the store. Lucy was really warming up to him and started getting silly.
For comparison, here’s our photo from last year.
Classic!
After visiting Santa, we went to lunch at Big Bear Lodge (yum!!) and then took the girls to Grandma Rita’s house to help her decorate. And I apparently took zero pictures! We were busy though, and these girlies passed right out on the drive home.
While I made dinner, they got busy playing in the pantry . . . which is Em’s new favorite play room lately!
I am keeping my wrapped presents in the basement because the girls have too much fun putting their own “presents” underneath the tree!
Lucy was teaching Ems how to properly hold a baby yesterday.
We switched things up and did our grocery shopping at Meijer this week instead of Kroger. I’m not sure the penny pony has the same appeal as the free fruit, cheese, and cookies at Kroger!
Eating a snack and watching Frozen.
This is Emmy’s new favorite move after every meal!
I bought the girls their first night gowns. They look like little old ladies . . . but in an adorable way!
This made me laugh out loud when I read it. We were listening to Michael Buble’s Christmas album in the car this weekend and Matty asked if he was even around anymore.
This will most likely be my only post until next Sunday. I have several photo calendars that I make as gifts for people, and I have declared this week Calendar Week. I don’t get much time to work on them during the day, so I’ll sit down for a few hours each night every day this week and HOPEFULLY finish them by next weekend.
Have a great week!
XOXO
