Merry Christmas!
So I completely forgot to blog on Monday. I blame the Christmas craziness! That means you get twice as many pictures today . . . it’s a Christmas miracle!!
Our holiday festivities have been going strong since last Thursday, and I have the pictures (and over tired kiddos) to prove it. So sit back, relax, grab some leftover Christmas cookies, and enjoy the cuteness!
Last Thursday was our annual day to go to Oma and Papa’s to enjoy the Christmas decorations and go to Fantasy Land.
The girls had fun helping Papa make chocolate malts.
They enjoyed drinking them even more than making them!
After nap time and a delicious spaghetti dinner, we were off to Fantasy Land. Emmy loved seeing Olaf in the penguin display!
We had zero plans last Friday, which felt amazing! The girls and I stayed home and played, cleaned, disinfected, and baked!
On Saturday morning, we braved the grocery (along with the rest of South Lyon) and lived to tell about it!
My parents came over on Saturday evening for dinner and to exchange a few presents. My mom helped Lucy make her very first gingerbread house!
The adults exchanged gifts to alleviate some of the craziness at my parents’ house on Christmas Day, and they also brought a little gift for the girls. They really enjoyed their light up letters and Fancy Nancy dresses!
It only took us one Christmas with Lucy to figure out that opening sooo many gifts on one day can be very overwhelming for kiddos. So, as long as we can get away with it, we’ve decided to spread the gifts out a bit. We gave the girls their gifts from us on Sunday morning so that they could thoroughly enjoy their Santa gifts on Christmas morning. Lucy got these river stones that she can move around and jump back and forth on. They have been a HIT!
And Emmy got this adorable rug with some Disney princess cars to go with it. Also a hit!
My parents got Matty two of these chairs, and the girls have been enjoying them. They’re like those fold up chairs that people take to games or, in our case, use out on the driveway in the summer . . . except it’s a rocking chair too!
Sunday was our prep day for Christmas Eve, but in between preparing we got out for some fresh air.
I made some Peppermint Oreo Balls . . .
. . . and rested on the couch with Lucy while she watched The Star. Both the nap and the movie were wonderful!
Christmas Eve morning meant Santa pancakes!
Rita, Sarah, Brian, Tommy, and Eleanor came over around 11:30, and our day of crazy chaos began! ๐
We couldn’t even get all four kiddos in a picture!
We ate lunch, let the kiddos open some presents, and then Emmy went down for a nap while the rest of us rested and watched The Star again.
We played Lucky Ducks, which is a game Lucy got. And I use the term “play” loosely!
Everyone left around 8pm, and then we got the girls bathed, dressed in their Christmas nightgowns, and left treats for Santa and Rudolph.
By 9pm the girls were asleep, and we were ready for Santa!
The girls slept until 8:45 on Christmas morning, which was the best gift ever! They got up and were so excited about their presents!
Snuggling with our girls in their Snuggie Tails.
Around 12:30 we loaded up and headed down to my parents’ house for Christmas Day!
Things got a little crazy after we finished opening gifts, and Emmy lost her shirt!
Sadie got an ipad for Christmas and was so sweet about letting Emmy play with her!
I can’t even handle this sweet picture of Lucy saying goodbye to her Aunt Carla!
This is the best we could do!
The girls fell asleep on the drive home so, of course, they weren’t ready for bed . . . but I was!!
Lucy, in particular, had a hard time falling asleep. Eventually, she called me in and begged to get to sleep in Emmy’s new tent. Because it was Christmas I said yes, and Matty dragged it upstairs and put it back together in Lucy’s room!
She finally fell asleep around 10pm and lasted until about 6am before calling me to tuck her back into her regular bed . . . where she slept until 10am! Someone needs to catch up on her sleep!
Thursday was a great weather day so we loaded up and headed back downriver for the day to hang out with the kiddos and play at the park.
Tired kiddos after playing at the park!
Phew!! Did you make it??
We have another party this evening, but it’s adults only so the girls will be able to keep their regular bedtime. Then we have one more visit and one more dinner on Friday and then probably one more play date with Tommy and Elle on Saturday before they leave to go back to Illinois. . . and then our calendar is officially clear! If you need me on Sunday, I’ll be in bed!
Have a great weekend! Don’t forget to come back on Monday morning for my 2018 Year in Review!!
XOXO
