I don’t have a ton of pictures from this week.
The main reason is because I’ve tried to unglue myself from my phone and be more present with the girls. I did this for a couple of reasons.
1. Lucy has been exhibiting some weird behaviors for a few weeks now. I keep thinking to myself, “That was a randomly tough week.” And then I find myself thinking that the next week . . . and the week after that. So maybe it’s not so random after all.
2. We no longer live in the shopping/entertainment/awesome library mecca that was the Plymouth/Canton area, which means that unless I want to drive 20-30 minutes somewhere (have you BEEN in the car with Ems lately??) we stay home and play a lot more. If I’m being honest, I can only take so many puzzles, books, baby playing, coloring, etc before my mind gets a little bored and I encourage the girls to play on their own for a bit so I can scroll through my phone. So, in an attempt to focus on Lucy a bit more and work through these behaviors, I’ve tried to keep my phone on the kitchen island most of the day.
Did it work?
Nope.
One minute Lucy is snuggling all over me and saying we’re best friends, and the next she’s pouting in the corner because I told her I wouldn’t play “Let’s Jump Off the Ottoman” with her. Yesterday morning I was psyching myself up for a loooong day because Matty had a work function in the evening. Lucy woke up before 7am and I told myself “It’s ok, I can do this, I’m gonna make it a great day!” Five minutes later Lucy is tantruming on the kitchen floor because I won’t give her any milk until she’s goes potty. Half an hour after that, she’s snuggling all over me while I make breakfast but then LOSES HER MIND when she sees I’m serving her a cereal bar and clementines. After ten minutes of crying, she went to the table, gobbled it all up, and asked for two more clementines. I know this is typical three year old behavior . . . but that doesn’t make it any less FRUSTRATING.
And then sweet little Emmy just looks on and does her own thing most of the time, but every once in awhile it’s like she’s thinking “Girl, you think THAT’S a tantrum? Watch this . . . ” and then throws herself down on the ground and goes to town. Lucy is a quiet, annoying whiner but Emily is LOUD and has some pretty impressive stamina. Each girl is so unique. #imsolucky
Whoa. I probably typed all that in about two minutes, so I guess I really needed to get it off my chest . . . and into the blog world! haha
Sorry, rant is officially over. Have I mentioned lately how much I love my girls?? ๐
We’ve had a few cute moments this week, so let’s focus on those shall we??
The most important thing that happened this week was these costumes! I went to Target for bath wash and toothbrushes and came home with these. #notsurprising
All of their Halloween stuff was 90% off . . . I got each of them for $3! It really would have been ridiculous NOT to buy them. Also, the girls have been super into pretending they’re horses lately, so it was a win win.
I mean that smile alone is worth at least $3!
We also picked up this genie costume for $2.50. One trip to Target and suddenly the girls have seriously upped their dress up game!
Moana and a genie just waiting for their daddy to get home from work.
On Tuesday, Lucy’s class took a field trip to Great Harvest Bread Company to learn how bread was made. The tour/info itself may have been a little over their heads, but I certainly enjoyed it!
I could not believe the size of that mixer! Check out the paddle for it on the shelf to the left! Lucy commented that it looked like mine only waaaaaaay bigger!
Each child got to decorate a sugar cookie, which was cute.
The girls were taking out all my cookie cutters and spreading them around the pantry, but it gave me 10 peaceful minutes of dinner prep so it was totally worth it.
We went to the At Home store by our house, and this guy was waiting to greet us right by the door. The girls were soooo cute with it, and I told myself if it was less than $25 I’d buy it as a special Christmas decoration for the new house. It was $35. #sorry #nope #downboy
It was cold and windy yesterday afternoon, but I knew I needed to break up the long day so we went for a walk around our circle after Em’s nap. At one point they just sat down and started smiling at me. It was pretty cute!
And finally, I ordered Llama Llama Misses Mama from Lucy’s book order at school. We are big fans of Llama in our house, but I was pretty surprised to see the word “hate” in one of the books. As was my mom who read it to Emily the other day. I’ve since crossed it out and wrote “dislikes” so that anyone who reads it will be prepared. I feel like that’s a pretty big slip up for a toddler book!
And that’s it!
As I type this Matty is still at his work party, so I think it’s time for me to close up shop and watch an episode of This is Us before he gets home. I’ve only just started season three so I’m a little behind.
We are hosting a Friend Reunion at our house this weekend, and the girls are going to my parents’! Just in the nick of time, I’d say! Here’s hoping the break is just what we need for everyone (INCLUDING ME) to make an attitude adjustment.
Have a great weekend!
XOXO
