Happy Monday, friends!
We are coming off a very busy, but very good weekend. After a pretty challenging week with the girls last week, my parents and Rita each agreed to take a girl for Friday afternoon and night! Boy, was I excited! haha
But let’s back up to Thursday, though, when I was able to snap a picture of Ems snoozing hard in her crib. She’s a very light sleeper and almost always wakes up if we open her door and go in her room. She slept in on Thursday morning, but I had to wake her up since I had to take Lulu to school.
Thursday was cool but sunny, so Ems and I walked to go get Lucy to school. I’m not sure what Lucy’s face is doing in this picture, but she was excited to get a stroller ride home.
Lucy said, “Mama, come take a picture of me snugging Emmy!” Even Lu realizes it’s a rare occurrence!
Funtastic is a pretty good halfway point between our house and the grandparents’ houses, so that’s where we met on Friday. The girls played for a bit and then went their separate ways with their grandparents.
I love my girls dearly, but I was one happy mama once I was all by myself! I listened to a podcast in the car on the drive home and then decided to stop by Twelve Oaks for a little child-free browsing. I went to get fitted for a new bra at Nordstrom, and it was a top notch experience. Forget Victoria’s Secret . . . go to Nordstrom, you won’t regret it!
Over the past week or so we ordered curtains for the front room, office, and loft, a lamp for the office, new contact lenses for me, snow boots for the girls, and new fleece pj’s for Emmy. It was an unfortunate coincidence that it all ended up on our porch on the same day! I pulled up and my first thought was, “Thank goodness I got home before Matty!” haha But then I took this picture to send to him anyway.
My Friday afternoon at home alone was glorious! I put away packages, cleaned out my car, read my book, and just did whatever I wanted! Matty got home and cut the grass, and then we headed to a brewery in Brighton for dinner. Afterward we walked to a custard shop and split the most delicious chocolate malt! We may as well have been on a first date! haha
Before we went to pick up the girls on Saturday, we had to go to the car dealer to sign the papers to buy my car (the lease is up) and then we went out to lunch . . . just the two of us! Matty stopped at Starbucks and got a latte with a pump of mocha and a pump of peppermint. I have never ever liked the taste of coffee, but this drink was delicious!
There is no good Mexican food near our new house, so we were happy to be Downriver enjoying some Angelina’s!
After lunch we picked up the girls, and it was back to our regularly scheduled programming. Ems was having a hard time staying asleep on Saturday night, so I got some extra snuggles . . . which is never a bad thing!
Matty got the girls dressed in outfits I had laid out for them Sunday morning. I believe at one point I heard him say, “Probably not anytime soon since Halloween is quickly approaching, but maybe just one day when I’m home they could wear something normal?” #nopromises
Ready to run errands in their festive outfits! The adorable tutus are courtesy of Aunt Carla!
Who doesn’t like a sugar cookie at 10am?!
I know it’s not even Halloween yet, but these Advent calendars were two for $3 at Kroger! Lu picked the Disney princesses and Ems was thrilled to get Minnie.
Sunday was a dreary, rainy day so the girls spent the afternoon making forts while we prepared for visitors for dinner.
Matty listens to music on his headphones while he vacuums, and Ems wanted to wear hers too!
Sisters!
This popped up on my Facebook feed yesterday and made me smile. I miss wearing Ems! I remember this day very clearly because she was a hit at Holiday Market with that owl hat!
Gary and Karen came to to dinner yesterday, and the girls had fun doing puzzles, playing hide and seek, and getting turned upside down!
After bath last night, Ems climbed into her chair and started looking at the new pumpkin book Aunt Carla got for the girls. It was the cutest!
Meanwhile, at the Brennan household, these two cuties were busy carving some pumpkins!
And they weren’t the only ones getting in the Halloween spirit last night! My brother and Carla took Andy (James Bond), Sadie (Hermione Granger), and Gordie (Santa Claus, obviously!) to Greenfield Village . . . in the cold and rain. Parents of the year!
We have a big week ahead of us. Lucy goes to her first dentist appointment this morning! Fingers crossed that she opens wide and cooperates with the dentist! Tuesday is Lucy’s Halloween party at school, and then Wednesday is the big day . . . Halloween! We are so excited to be in an actual neighborhood with soooo many kids this year! It should be an awesome night!
Have a Spooktacular week!
XOXO
