Happy Monday!
It’s a fresh week, and I’m hoping for a fresh start and a fresh attitude . . . because this weekend kicked my behind!
It started off on a good note with a pleasant trip to Meijer Friday morning. The girls got a kick out of this poodle parked a few cars from us. It looks like a furry human sitting there!
Emmy Roses is really getting into dress up, and she comes up with the greatest outfits!
This caused quite the commotion in our sub on Friday evening. They came so close that we could hear the people’s voices and when they fired up the balloon! There was much debate as to whether or not a hot air balloon ride would be fun. I’m firmly in the “no way” camp. #noway #notme #notever
Lucy and I made chocolate chip cookies while Emmy napped, and the girls enjoyed one on the porch after dinner.
Hot on the heels of Emmy not sleeping well because of her Hand, Foot, and Mouth, Lucy woke up at 3:30am Friday night/Saturday morning and said she didn’t feel well. I rocked her for like 15 minutes and put her back to bed where she lasted about 20 min before calling me again. We repeated this pattern until 6:30 when we finally just decided to get up.
So . . since we’d essentially been up since 3:30, Lucy and I were a little grumpy throughout the morning, but we rallied and made it to Kensington Metropark for Matty’s company picnic. And it was HOT. And HUMID! #ugh
We found the shadiest spot we could to set up shop.
They were sweaty, dirty, and super happy to each get their own cupcake!
This is what being drunk on cupcakes looks like!
After the picnic, the girls got a good wipe down and BOTH went down for a nap without a fight. Lucy lasted about 30 minutes before she woke up crying because she was developing quite the cold. Don’t get me wrong, I love rocking my sweet girl . . . but I really could have used a nap!
Remember how I’d been up since 3:30? I was REALLY looking forward to going to bed Saturday night. We laid down around 11 . . . and at 11:20 Emily woke up crying and did not go back to sleep until about 3:45am! I was a zombie! I tried rocking her, reading to her, walking with her . . . nothing worked. At one point I even put her back in her crib to cry it out, but I gave up after 30 minutes because I was afraid she’d wake Lucy. Around 3:30 I couldn’t even function anymore so I woke up Matty and told him he had to take a turn. He was thrilled to help. #not
Emily cuddled right up to him and he was back in bed in about 15 minutes! I was too tired to even pretend to be mad about that. So I FINALLY GOT TO GO TO SLEEP . . . until Lucy woke up calling for me at 5:00 because her stuffy nose was bothering her. #cantwin #orsleep
Here’s a picture of Em screaming it out at some point. She’ll be 18 months at the end of September. Lucy’s 18 month sleep regression almost broke me. Seriously. We have to end this right now!
Because she had been up for so long, we let Ems sleep as late as she wanted on Sunday morning which ended up being around 10:00! She still looked so tired . . .
. . . and couldn’t stop yawning! #metoo
We spent the rest of the day doing chores and projects around the house and then celebrating my brother’s 40th birthday! Carla did such a great job with the decorations, but I didn’t think to take a single picture. I blame the sleep deprivation.
To end on kind of a funny note, here’s a little video I took of Ems after she decided to start her day. My friend, Marie, gave me a bag of clothes for Emmy and there were some Elmo and Cookie Monster slippers in it. Emmy was really excited when she came downstairs and saw them and wanted to put them on right away.
I’m flying solo this week. Yikes!
I can do it . . . that’s what I keep saying to myself, anyway!
Have a great week. Here’s hoping for some cooler temps!
XOXO
