Happy Monday!
We are coming off a super productive weekend!
More on that later, though. First I’ve got to catch you up on what we’ve been doing around here.
There was a day last week when I had a list of errands to run . . .and all these girls wanted to do was play! They played so nicely all morning long. I didn’t want to break to spell, so we skipped the errands and did some baby wearing instead.
I’m working on a gallery wall in our hallway (not the hallway behind Lucy!). The frames are up, and I love them, but I’m not going to share until I get all of the pictures printed and inside. Lucy enjoyed all the bubble wrap that the frames were wrapped in! I had her lay down like this and I rolled her across the room, and she thought the popping sound was the funniest thing ever.
Say hello to my new phone background! We took a giant group picture with all of the kiddos in our little area of the sub, and Matty snapped this one afterward. Emmy Roses does not look like a baby anymore, and it’s devastating!
Speaking of not being a baby anymore! Right now she’s happy just to stand on Lucy’s scooter, but she’s going to want to take this thing for a spin before we know it.
One of our neighbors recently had a baby, and I signed up to take dinner to her family last week. This is laughable because most nights I struggle to get dinner on the table for just our family . . . and on this day I had to do it for TWO families! I decided to make chili, cornbread, and chocolate chip cookies. I gave each of the girls a bowl filled with goldfish crackers and some uncooked noodles. I told them to use their spatulas to hunt for the goldfish to eat.
I felt like super mom for about two minutes, but then Emmy started eating the uncooked noodles instead of the goldfish . . and then throwing the noodles on the floor where they shattered into a million pieces. And then Lucy had to use the bathroom. And then Emmy had a meltdown because she wanted to go too, but I put her in her high chair because the girl will NOT STOP FLUSHING THE TOILET 57 TIMES A DAY!
So . . . is it really a surprise that the cornbread turned out like this?? #oops
This one went in the trash, and I decided to table all dinner prep until Emmy was napping. I’m happy to report everything turned out perfectly! Oh, except for when I loaded the girls and the food into our wagon to go deliver dinner and my most favorite flip flop ever broke about two houses into our walk! It wasn’t necessarily a BAD day, it was just a DAY! Know what I mean??
Thursday night Emmy woke up covered in sweat and very upset about it. Even after I changed her clothes, she still wasn’t calming down or cooling down. I took her temp, and it turned out she had a fever. A little Tylenol and some rocking, and I was back in bed . . .2.5 hours later. ugh! She slept in late the next morning. I ended up waking her up because we were supposed to meet friends at the apple orchard, and I wanted to see if she was feeling ok.
Her fever was very low and she seemed happy, so I figured I’d give her some Tylenol and she’d be fine. This was Emmy when we were getting ready to get in the car. I should have known it was going to be a tough day!
And here’s how Emmy’s trip to the apple orchard went . . .
Lucy had a great time, though!
We were there with a bunch of friends, but I finally decided to give up and go home . . .right after we got our donuts!
Ems rallied after a little bit of donut and some water (that’s my girl!), so we decided to go with our friends to check out the sunflowers. I think sunflowers are totally creepy. Flowers should not be taller than me, nor should they move on their own. However, I have to admit, they made a cute backdrop for pictures!
Immediately after I took this picture Lucy sneezed directly onto the flower, and it was hilarious!
Emmy’s fever was back by the time we got home, so I gave her some more Tylenol and she took a great nap. Friday evening we hung out on our driveway with our neighbors, and one of them asked if I wanted some wine. I said yes, and she came over with this! I had never seen anything like this before, but I loved it! You better believe these are going on my Christmas Ideas blog post this year. In case you can’t wait that long, though, you can find them here.
The weather was cooling off, we had so many neighbors hanging out, and the kids were all playing nicely. It was a great Friday night, and we let the girls stay up until 8:30! #weneverdothat
So Ems slept great on Friday, but woke up Saturday morning with a few spots on her hand and around her mouth. You know what that means . . . hand, foot, and mouth disease! #nooooooo
The girls were scheduled to go to my parents’ house Saturday morning and stay the night so that Matty and I could get some projects done around the house. I figured since Ems slept well the night before that she’d be ok for my mom . . .but I was wrong. Apparently she was fairly fussy and didn’t sleep much at all Saturday night. ๐
I fretted all day Saturday about whether I should go down and pick the girls up and just bring them back home, so I really didn’t enjoy our free time as much as I should have. The only bright side is that we were SO PRODUCTIVE! We got four big projects crossed off our list: the basement is completely unpacked and organized, the surround sound is hooked up, the ceiling fans are hung in the girls’ rooms, and all the holes in the walls are patched and painted (and there were a lot!).
Apparently Lucy woke up way too early on Sunday morning, so this was what she did for our long drive home on Sunday afternoon.
It was downright chilly yesterday, but I’m not complaining! I wore a sweatshirt and slippers during the day, and I enjoyed this great view while I blogged last night! Bring on the cooler temps!
We have a big week ahead of us . . . Lucy starts three year old preschool tomorrow!!
As long as she doesn’t come down with hand, foot, and mouth. #fingerscrossed
She SAYS she excited, but we’ll see what happens once it’s time to drop her off. Tuesday I go with her for an orientation, and then her first day all by herself is Thursday. I think that the most likely scenario is that Lucy will cry when it’s time for me to leave, Emmy will cry because she’ll want to play with all the toys instead of leaving, and I’ll cry when I get to the car. I’ll keep you posted!
Have a great week!
XOXO
