We officially have a preschooler in our house!
It’s been a crazy week, but there weren’t any official tears at drop off (by Lucy or me!) so I’m calling it a win.
Lucy loves books, so we’ve been reading these three for awhile to prepare for going to school. There’s been a lot of talk about how mommy and daddy will be thinking about her all day long, what her school schedule will be like, and what it means to be an “includer” and say yes to friends.
I bought this sign off Etsy, and I went ahead and bought Emily one too because I wanted them to match!
Carla bought Lucy this bow, and I wish I had taken a better picture of it! Lucy is sleeping while I type this, or I’d go into her room and take a better one. It was a glittery pencil, and she got so many compliments!
Ready for preschool orientation!
Pardon Emmy’s too small pajamas! The sizes/seasons didn’t match up for using Lucy’s fall clothes, so we’re currently in a bit of a clothing crisis. #oops
Lucy’s favorite part about orientation was the Oreo cookie!
Orientation was Tuesday, and I stayed with Lucy while we were there. Yesterday was her first official day by herself, and I was prepared for her to be a mess . . . and I was pleasantly surprised!
She found her box/hook with her name on it! At orientation she got to pick a sticker to put on her box, and Lucy was super excited about her fish stickers!
And she was a little excited about her name tag, too!
Emmy Roses knew exactly what to do . . . she sat down and got busy playing!
I didn’t have my phone out in time, but Lucy gave Emmy a hug goodbye first and it was super cute. Almost as cute as when Matty hugged her goodbye!
Lucy was at the point where she was either going to cry or keep it together and be ok, so we high tailed it out of there and hoped for the best. We didn’t hear any crying or screaming for mama, which is a vast improvement from her dance class over the summer! I missed her like crazy right away, though. I decided to have a little surprise waiting for her after school because we were so proud of how she handled her first day. I picked up this Sofia doll on clearance and had her waiting in Lucy’s carseat along with Nemo when I picked her up.
Lucy had a great first day! The very first thing she told me was that they ONLY gave her an applesauce pouch for a snack! haha She’s only there for two hours, but that girl was hangry when I picked her up! The second was that she got to wear an Elsa dress during play time and one of the girls told her she did not look beautiful in it. For real?! Why are kids so mean? We told her that it wasn’t kind for the little girl to say that and we hope Lucy would never make any of her friends feel sad. #grrrrr
I did a little interview with Lucy in honor of her first day of school. I hope to do this with the girls every year. Her answers are written exactly as she said them to me.
Enjoy! 🙂
