The kids were great.
The food was great.
The weather? . . . not so much. ๐
We left for the cottage Friday afternoon and had planned on staying until Tuesday afternoon, but ended up coming home Monday morning because the weather was such a bummer. It wasn’t the best send off to summer, but it was still fun to be with family!
Emmy Roses does NOT like long car rides, so we left at nap time in an attempt to make our ride more enjoyable. #fail
She slept for about 20 minutes and then fussed the rest of the way, even with my mom’s Kindle strapped in front of her. You know what she cried for the entire time? Moana! Or, as Emmy likes to say, “Monna!” The girl is obsessed!
We got to the cottage, unloaded, and had some playtime before ordering some delicious pizza for dinner.
Ems went to bed as usual, but we let Lucy stay up late to see Tommy once he arrived with Sarah, Brian, and Eleanor. This also meant that she got second dinner, and she wasn’t sad about it!
The weather was not looking great for boating on Saturday, so we headed to our favorite little farm/orchard to pet some animals and eat some donuts.
Dr. Brian is a chemistry professor. Can you tell??
They never even knew that the car would move if we put a quarter in. ๐ #win
We ate way too many donuts!
It rained/stormed most of the rest of the day. During breaks in the weather we let the kiddos burn off some energy outside. Uncle Brian gave lots of golf cart rides . . .
. . . and we improvised when we realized we’d all forgotten helmets for the kiddos.
While it rained we built forts and rolled the big kids into mummies.
An entire day inside with four kids is a little crazy, especially when we don’t have all the amenities of our own homes, so sometimes we just let them get a little crazy.
There is nothing sweeter than a sleeping Lucy Belle!
Double girls! There are three months and a BUNCH of pounds difference between these two girlies!
Oh what a difference a year makes! Think they’ll let us do this when they’re ten??

Matty and his girls!
The Brennan Crew!
Saturday night was warm, humid, and stormy, and it did not make for a good night of sleep for Emmy . . . or me!
Sisterly love!
Ever since I’ve known Matty (18 years!!), he’s mentioned this dessert that his Aunt Marie used to make when he was little, and I FINALLY got to try it last weekend! It had a pretzel crust, vanilla ice cream, and Sander’s Hot Fudge. Delicious!
Grandma Rita with all her little loves!
For the drive home, I used my phone as a hot spot to stream Moana on Netflix . . . it made for a much happier Emmy Roses!
We certainly don’t get up to the cottage as often as we did before kids, but we had three great trips this summer (ok, maybe just two great trips . . . 4th of July was a little rough). Another summer is in the books, and I’m ready for some cooler temps!
Have a great weekend!
XOXO
