Happy Monday!
It’s the last official week of summer . . . let’s also hope it’s the last week of 90+ degree temperatures! I love a good hot day as much as the next guy, but I’m tired of sweating and melting every time I take the girls out to play!
Matty was off on Wednesday, and we took the girls to the pool in the afternoon. They enjoyed their apple snacks . . . and having the entire pool to themselves!
Emmy in one arm and my phone/vacuum/cooking utensil/toilet paper (ahh!!) in the other. This little lady is going through a MAJOR clingy phase. Some days I’m sympathetic and will hold her while doing everything, and some days I’m so over it and just let her cry while I try to do whatever it is I need to do. I believe on this day I had just finished vacuuming our main floor while holding her and I was nearing my breaking point.
Double the cuteness and double the mess while baking with mama!
I asked Lucy to get dressed so we could go play outside, and this is what she chose. #pickingmybattles #andididntchoosethisone
We had a warm (not hot!) and breezy day on Thursday, so we took advantage and ate lunch outside.
I was feeling particularly daring/generous/loving and decided to let Lucy paint some rocks outside while Emmy napped. Right after I took this picture, someone stopped by to chat for a few minutes, and Lu took that opportunity to paint both of her arms. I feel like this week has slowly sucked my patience well dry!
We had friends over for a play date on Friday, and Emmy was super interested in baby Eliana. #dontgetanyideas
Lucy loves to goof around with her daddy, and Emmy is starting to love it as well!
We went to an apple orchard with some neighbors yesterday morning. It was SO HUMID but, other than my hair, everyone seemed to have a great time.
Lucy eventually loved jumping back and forth on these high hay bails, but at first she didn’t like being so high up . . . which explains her weird smile!
This one loved jumping off to me.
I was trying to help Lucy ride this trike around the path . . . see Ems running for me with her arms up?!
They enjoyed pumping the water . . .
. . . and feeding the goats.
Our sub had a BBQ yesterday. These little ladies lived in the water right up until everyone had left . . . and then they treated themselves to a brownie and a rice krispie treat.
Since I’m not working, I feel like if you replaced “Coworkers” with “Anyone in Life,” then this pretty much sums me up.
Funny, but not funny.
I’m feeling a little discombobulated the past few weeks. I’ve dropped the ball on meal planning, working out, being patient . . . I’m definitely not myself. I’m trying to give myself a little bit of grace because it’s been the craziest summer ever, but I can tell that I’m ready to get back on track and feel like a productive human being again. And maybe even a human being that can bring more to the table than just what Daniel Tiger did on yesterday’s episode. Or maybe a human being that doesn’t get unnecessarily excited when she sees that Sesame Street Live is coming back in January. I need to find a hobby or something that makes me feel more like an adult and less like a stay at home mama who only wants to talk about potty training tips. Does that makes sense?? Here’s hoping!
Have a great week!
XOXO
