Greetings from South Lyon!!
We’ve been in our house two weeks now, and it’s starting to feel like home! We’ve been working like crazy getting everything unpacked, organized, and decorated. In a few weeks, when our curtains are up, I’ll share pictures of the house.
Meanwhile, I figured I’d share a few (and by “few” I mean a lot) pictures of what we’ve been up to since we moved . . . other than the unpacking, organizing, and decorating!
We hired movers this time around, and it was the best money we’ve ever spent. Seriously. We used Corrigan and can’t recommend them enough. They were so nice, considerate, and FAST. They busted their butts all day long, and Matty and I were in awe.
While Matty was at the old house supervising the move, I was at the new house cleaning and waiting for our new furniture to be delivered. Here I am pretending to be happy about mopping. #imnot #ihateit
After a LOOONG day of moving, Matty and I drove back to the old house for our last load of random things and to leave our keys. I didn’t anticipate it being sad, but it definitely was.
Don’t mind my tired, post teary-eyed face. It’s nothing an Arby’s dinner at 8:30pm couldn’t fix.
My parents brought the girls to the house the day after we moved, along with this giant bear as a house warming gift!
The girls have definitely been enjoying the neighborhood!
I’ve been enjoying having neighbors who bring me treats!
Here’s Matty and Lucy heading off on their first trip to the pool!
Here’s Lucy having a blast at the pool.
And here’s Lucy passed out on our bed after a traumatic fall at the pool that resulted in two badly skinned knees. #oops
We didn’t want her to be afraid of the pool, so we made her go back the next day and she did great.
These two are slowly starting to enjoy one another! #emphasisonslowly
We checked out a little ice cream shop by our new house, and it was delicious! It’s safe to say I was the stickiest one there. Emmy insisted on feeding herself, and she was dripping everywhere . . .and the table had all those holes! My legs and feet were covered in ice cream.
We were burning the midnight oil (ok, the 10pm oil) trying to hang some pictures without the girls running around. Getting anything significant done during the day is darn near impossible.
We checked out the local library last week and had a great time.
They have a reading garden which was so cool! The flowers were beautiful, and you follow a path reading pages of a book as you go.
The girls and I went to my parents’ to celebrate my dad’s birthday, and Emmy insisted on trying this scooter. She’s getting too big!
The girls got the cutest little aprons from the Allen Park Street Fair. I tried so hard to get a picture of them, but neither would cooperate and turn around . . .
Until Emmy whirled around and came at me with the pot!
Just as we were getting into a pretty good routine, both girls got really bad colds. I was awake with Emmy for almost four hours the first night. Boo!!
And then the poor thing was so miserable that she didn’t nap very well the next day.
I eventually gave up and brought Ems downstairs with us to watch Moana . . .
. . . and then this happened!
Emmy was on the loose so I had to move this sweet girl to the couch, and she didn’t mind one bit!
We have a great walk in pantry, but Emmy thinks it’s her second play room. She has totally entered the “getting into EVERYTHING” phase.
The Heinbuchs came over last weekend to see the house, but they really just spent a lot of time entertaining our kids!
We were hanging out upstairs while we did bath and bedtime with the girls. Matty was bathing Ems, and I walked out from putting away toys and saw our dear friends watching Daniel Tiger with Lucy. So sweet!
Our first family picture in front of the new house!
Last Sunday was HOT! We were at the pool by 10am for swimming and snacks with neighbors.
On our walk back to the house we saw that our neighbors across the street had set up this huge inflatable water slide. We stopped to play there for awhile.
Lucy had fun playing with the other girls but wasn’t quite ready to try the slide!
After an early wake up call and lots of time out in the heat, we all took a great nap on Sunday and it was GLORIOUS!
Monday was rainy, and since we now have a covered porch, Lucy and I sat outside for a while during Emmy’s nap. I enjoyed listening to the rain and thunder, and Lucy enjoyed running around getting wet!
Lucy had dance Tuesday morning, and then she and I went out to lunch and ran a TON of errands while my mom watched Ems. I thought for sure she’d fall asleep on the drive home, but no dice. Instead, she fell asleep in the car on the ten minute drive to go pick up dinner and then went back to sleep on the mudroom floor once I brought her inside. #royallytired
And that’s what we’ve been up to!
I’m so glad the initial craziness of moving is over. Everything started on a Monday and we were go go go for an entire week. I handled it just fine until Sunday night when I felt like I’d been run over by a truck! I was sooooo tired the Monday and Tuesday after the move, but then I rallied and got back to unpacking and organizing!
We’ve got big plans this weekend that we’ve been looking forward to all year . . . we are headed back to Cedar Point for our 2nd Annual Kissel/Brennan/Entire Brennan Family trip to Cedar Point! We are going to leave Emmy Roses with my parents again for one more year. We had such a blast last year, so hopefully it’s just as fun this year. My goal is to ride at least one rollercoaster. Will it happen?? We shall see!
Have a great weekend!
XOXO
