Phew! We have been BUSY!
We’ve had a lot going on over here lately, but we’ve managed to squeeze in some fun.
It’s been pretty hot the past few days, so we’ve been hanging out in water whenever possible.
Thursday afternoon we had snack outside . . .
. . . and the girls finally figured out how to share. Too bad it was MY apple!
My brother-in-law, Brian, was in Toledo with Tommy visiting family, so on Friday morning Rita, the girls and I met him and some of his family at the Toledo Zoo. This giant seal backed himself up right to the glass.
This little lady is certainly not a baby anymore. She had no interest in the stroller; she just wanted to toddle around and check everything out.
When Ems got tired of walking, she wanted to be held instead of go in the stroller. That baby is heavy, so Uncle Brian took a turn.
We rode the African Safari train to see a lot of animals.
We didn’t see a ton of animals, but we did eat a ton of snacks!
After the zoo, I drove to my parents’ house so we could cool off in their pool. Lucy used her time in the car wisely.
Despite only a 20 minute car nap, Emmy Roses was ready to splash and have fun.
While they all look pretty cozy, Ems definitely looks like she’s living the life!
Saturday was our 12th anniversary! We had a busy day, but we did manage to squeeze in a trip to the Dairy King with the girls after dinner. There’s no long winded anniversary post this year, but if you want to read more, you can always check out my post about our ten year anniversary.
Father’s Day started out with playtime on the bed. Somewhere under all those pillows is the best daddy ever!
Lucy made this Super Dad craft for Matty when she was still in school. She was so excited to finally give it to him!
After a little shopping and some lunch, Emmy went down for a nap and Matty decided to do some work on our fireplace . . . with a little helper!
After nap we headed to my parents’ house for pizza and swimming. Emily definitely prefers the baby pool to the large pool, and Aunt Carla loved getting to play with her.
I told you Ems didn’t like the big pool! We were trying so hard to get a picture of all five grandkiddos in the pool. #maybenextyear
Emmy may not have liked the pool, but she loved the chips and french onion dip . . .
. . . and the Texas Sheet Cake!
Matty used the baby pool to wash all of the cake off of Ems. #fatheroftheyear
Prior to her cake bath, though, Emmy enjoyed taking her baby for a swim . . . even though she still had a regular diaper and her coverup on.
Lucy has only been swimming twice this summer, and she’s already getting braver and braver.
When we pulled out to head home, my parents looked so cute sitting on their bench!
Lucy used the car ride to catch up on some reading.
And now it’s Sunday night, and I’m sitting here on the couch working on this blog and trying to keep my eyes open. We seem to have somewhat of a normal week ahead of us, which I’m looking forward to. We have a super busy summer, which I like, but it really makes me appreciate the “normal” days at home.
Have a great week!
XOXO
