Yesterday was Lucy’s last day of Stay and Play, and she had a great time at her class party.
She was super excited to wear a “twirly” dress to school.
Look at the difference between the first day and last day. She’s getting so big!
The kiddos got to bring their bikes to school so that they could wash them and get them ready for summer. Lucy’s is on the left there with the Minnie Mouse helmet, but she only had eyes for that Disney princess bike with a dolly seat on the back. #maybenextyear
The district doesn’t deem it appropriate to have an official graduation ceremony (don’t even get me started . . . ), so Lucy’s teachers did a beach party instead. The bunny on the door was dressed up in a hula outfit, and Lucy thought it was so funny.
The parrot on top of the tiki bar was a hit.
One of Lucy’s teachers is retiring this year, and all of the classes donated money to buy her a lilac bush. Boy, did it smell good!
They had beach themed tattoos as well. Lucy wanted a hula girl because it looked like Moana, but then wanted it off like 20 minutes later because she said it was bothering her. That’s our first and last experience with temporary tattoos.
They got to make sun visors, “Just like Grandma Rita!”
Here she is moving her bike to the washing station, and doesn’t she look thrilled?! She’s probably thinking about how to trade hers out for that princess bike.
They had water and paint brushes and rollers so the kids could paint the school, which was pretty cute.
We hit the playground one last time . . .
. . . and then went inside for some delicious party snacks.
After circle time, the girls (Lucy’s class was made up of 10 kids . . . all girls!) presented their teachers with a gift that all of the parents went in on together.
My friend Lisa put together the gifts and did such a cute job. Each teacher got a plant with three gift cards: Target (duh!), Downtown Plymouth (where they live/shop/eat), and Detroit (they both love going to Tigers games).
Then there was a tiny little ceremony (shh, don’t tell anyone!) where the girls were each called up to get their final folders and shake their teachers’ hands. It was so cute!
Mrs. Tammy!
And Mrs. T!
The girls and the mommies (and one grandma).
Here are Greta, Catherine, and Lucy on the first day of school, and then again yesterday. They’ve come a long way!
Mrs. Tammy and Mrs. T gave each girl three books and a little certificate, and the mamas got this! It is so cute, and I’ll treasure it forever!
I am so happy with the Stay and Play program and how the school year went. I think it really helped Lucy come out of her shell a teeny tiny little bit. I can’t believe she’ll be going to three-year-old preschool all by herself in the fall! I wonder which one of us will cry harder on the first day. #hopefullyme
But first, summer vacation!!!
Come on back tomorrow for about a million Memorial Day pictures!
XOXO
