This week is going to be a crazy one for me. In addition to prepping for Emily’s FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY on Saturday, I also have to take her first birthday pictures, the girls have Easter photos with a baby lamb scheduled for Tuesday, and we are going to take pictures with the Easter Bunny with Andy, Sadie, and Gordie on Friday.
Should I have said no to at least one of these things? Probably.
Will I regret doing all of them? Maybe
Will it be a crazy fun, hectic, memorable week? I sure hope so!!
So anyway, I’m going to (try to) give myself a little grace this week and (try really hard) not to freak out if I don’t get everything done. The first don’t-freak-out situation of the week . . . Emily’s Easter dress is too small! #chubsmcgee
I had planned on having the girls wear the same matching dresses for pictures with the lamb and for Easter Sunday. But now Miss Roses needs something new. Ugh, the best laid plans . . . am I right?

On to more important things!
On Friday I had all of my mama friends over for a special “Things We Love” Night. This night was originally planned for the Friday before Valentine’s Day, so the “love” theme was perfect. However, Mother Nature had other plans and dropped a foot of snow in one day, so we had to reschedule. It’s so rare that all eight of us are able to get together, and I was SO EXCITED all day on Friday.
I didn’t take very many pictures because we were too busy eating a ton of delicious food. We had pizza dip, taco dip, spinach artichoke dip, hummus and pita bread, pasta salad, fruit salad, sausage rolls, spinach pie, and . . . slutty brownies with ice cream! Yes, mom, you read that correctly! ๐
For those of you who are like me and have no idea what slutty brownies are, they have three layers: cookie dough on the bottom, then a layer of Oreos, then the brownie batter on top. All served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Are you thinking that it sounds like too much? Well I’m here to tell you that you’re wrong . . . it was amazing!
Oh, and there was lots of wine. Did I forget to mention that??
So we spent a while eating and chatting and then got to the main event: the gift exchange!
We set a $20 limit, and everyone brought something they loved. It could be anything. We exchanged gifts “white elephant” style where everyone gets a number and then people can either choose a gift or steal. It was all very exciting and so much fun!
I decided to take a picture of each gift as it was opened. Maybe there’s something that you’ll love too!
This is the gift that I ended up receiving from Lisa, and I can’t wait to try it out. It’s a laminated, step-by-step guide on how to do make up for photos . . .complete with a contouring kit, bronzer, and brush!
Marie brought a gift certificate for Chatbooks, which was a great idea. Please ignore my hand in the picture, I was covering up the redemption code. I love chatbooks, and you can read all about them here.
Leslie shared her love for these shatterproof wine glasses. They were a big hit and got stolen once or twice. We all agreed these are a great idea for outside on the patio in the summer. I may not have gotten these at our gift exchange, but Mother’s Day will be here before we know it . . . and mama wants some shatterproof wine glasses! ๐
I wrapped up my favorite face wash and exfoliator.
Nicole brought a bottle of wine and a subscription to Clean Eating magazine for whomever chose her gift. So fun!
Becky brought her favorite dry shampoo and texturizing spray.
Teresa brought this hand and foot cream.
And Stephanie brought this skin care sampler set.
We had so much fun with this party and already have plans to do another one in the summer for beauty products.
The party started at 6:30, and the next thing I knew it was 11:00! There’s nothing better than getting to sit and chat with friends without toddlers and babies constantly interrupting!

Have a great week!
Check back tomorrow for some last minute Easter basket ideas.
